I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll
Reading Laura Faeth's publishing debut is like sitting down with an old friend who you haven't seen for ten years and listening to her recount an excellent adventure. Full of self-discovery and humor, this book entertains, enlightens, and makes you think! Her earnest quest to understand such matters as reincarnation and karma lead her on her very own magical mystery tour - and we get to go along for the ride. I discovered this book via one of those same sort of synchronistic moments that she describes throughout, which allowed me to read it with my eyes wide open, remembering that there are no coincidences here! Fascinating. The fact that this all takes place against a background of rock & roll sets it apart from the many other "woo woo" books about spirituality that are already out there, and adds an element of fun, too. While this journey is a profound exploration, the author also has a rare gift of not taking herself way too seriously. Sort of Deepak Chopra meets George Carlin. Now THAT is unique!

Brave Journey,

This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
Laura Faeth brings the reader along on her intensely personal journey of self discovery through the music of her favorite rock band. A fascinating experience for the writer and reader alike. As someone who always stayed away from anything even remotely spiritual, I found myself absorbed in her travels of self discovery through rock and roll. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
"I Found All The Parts" encapsulates a fascinating journey of self-expression and discovery honed from numerous nights standing at the altar of "that band the author follows" and how those events caused author Laura Faeth to explore her existence and sense of self. As a fellow traveler on the decades long, strange road trip addicted to that same musical group, I was eager to delve into Ms. Faeth's fascinating take on life, love, lyrics and the nature of fandom. While the book might be a tad more satisfying to some readers had Ms. Faeth been able to name the objects of her affection, it is neither truly necessary to be a fellow follower of that act nor to even know who the band is to enjoy the author's crisp, jovial and often self-effacing banter.
We the readers have all likely experienced a fascination with some group or another who became our own personal rock gods, making the subject matter here universal. To my delight, I found the clever Ms. Faeth's faithful outing to be like that of a late evening chat with a beloved friend, one which recounts the trials of growing up "different" than other kids at that tender time in life when fitting in is all-important. Often during those challenging years, some of us fans fell in love with that great cavalcade of "non-threatening boys" featured in teen magazines, a phenomenon which has led me to ponder the nature of fandom and how it steers our youth, growth and understanding of the spiritual nature of unrequited love. As opposed to the myriad of trite and unseemly recountings of "groupies" (those young ladies who wished to sleep with their idols), "Found" instead illustrates the idyll of the artist/fan relationship. Throughout the history of rock'n'roll, millions of listeners have felt the healing effects of the music of their idols, yet rarely has anyone captured that sheer rapture more eloquently than does this author. Laura Faeth's trip through her metaphysical wonder world is unique, profound and never takes itself too seriously. "The men don't know but the little girls understand," it has been famously said. Too true.

This Book Is A Special One,

This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
As a TBIF (The band mentioned in this book) fan, I had to read, 'I Found All The Right Parts: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll.' This book was very interesting, because it dives into some deep topics like, group reincarnation and synchronicity. It was also highly enjoyable to read. The author's shining personality makes heavy subjects entertaining.
My favorite part of this book dealt with the healing power of sound. There are scientific studies on this subject and it's just common sense. Music affects us, you play your favorite song and you feel better. I appreciate the author's bravery and vulnerability. With great humor, she bares her soul to the core, in telling us about her spiritual journey. Her thoughts inspire and teach well. I highly recommend this fascinating book to everyone who enjoys exploring what is out there, beyond the tangible.

A Spiritual Warrior with a Rock 'n' Roll Attitude,
By
This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
I have read many introspective and/or self-help books, several of which touch upon past lives and reincarnation. What sets this book apart from the others is its accessibility, its readability (I finished it in 3-4 days), and its author's fun attitude towards a very serious journey of self-transformation. Laura Faeth teaches us that we don't need to take ourselves too seriously in order to grow spiritually; in fact, the journey's meant to be fun. As a musician myself, I am intrigued by sound healing, but all of the books I've ever read on the subject seem directed at classically trained musicians or music theorists. This book opened my eyes (ears?) to the fact that rock and roll can be just as healing as Tibetan bowls, chanting, drumming circles, etc. I feel like I've just listened to a friend describing the ups-and-downs of her life -- sprinkled with a hefty dose of profound spiritual insight -- while sipping hot cocoa in front of a fire. Plus, trying to figure out the identity of the band she follows (the group that helped her "Wake the Bleep Up!") was loads of fun. Congratulations to Ms. Faeth for facing her fears and coming out the other side of her transformation with "all the parts"!

I read "I Found All the Parts" twice. It was that good!
Laura Faeth's style of writing is both refreshing and easy to read. It's almost like sitting down with a Rock and Roll aficianado and letting all of her thoughts gush out at you. Just like a live conversation with a groupie...who has a depth of understanding far beyond her initial, superficial appearance. Please read this book. Even if you don't agree with one word of it, it will fill you with effervescence and set your thought process off in a direction it has never gone. Congratulations to Laura Faeth.

This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
Laura Faeth takes us on the journey of a soul attempting to find meaning in a life where synchronicity is beyond reason, yet becomes the path to the reality of the Mystery of Vibration. Finding the meaning of life within a musical journey is a valient trail of unfolding clues. In the end, the beat of the drum leads to the comprehension of the divine principle. Rock on, Laura.

A Must-Read,
By
This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
Whether you're into rock and roll or not, this book will inspire you. Laura's tale of her spiritual journey is amazing both in its ability to teach basic spiritual concepts, and the way she connects the dots. She illustrates beautifully the way the soul is awakened and lead forward through simply paying attention to the signs and synchronicities we begin to receive when we begin a childlike search for Truth in earnest and wonderment. Completely bereft of "New Age" angels-and-fairies language, this book is perfect for those whose spirits are just beginning to flower into consciousness. The style is wholly entertaining and conversational, making for an enjoyable learning experience. I highly recommend it

Laura Faeth Rocks,
This review is from: I FOUND ALL THE PARTS: Healing the Soul Through Rock 'n' Roll (Paperback)
Years ago, I met a woman at a psychic fair who was exploring her relationship to a rock band. The band's members and music had enchanted her for decades. She was drawn to this band in the way that "parrot heads" flock to Jimmy Buffet. Now she has written a book chronicling the personal growth journey that was inspired by her attraction to this band. Her book includes insights from a diverse group of psychics, including myself.
Allow me to present my own review of "I Found All the Parts: Healing the Soul through Rock-N-Roll," by Laura Faeth. This book, like rock music itself, is fun! Faeth stylistically replicates the enthusiastic tone of a concert with her campy, witty writing, making it a quick, engaging read. The reader is invited to accompany Faeth on her journey of associations and syncronicities as she attempts to understand her devotion to this group. While there are many books of women who have been mesmerized by various musicians, this is a tell-all book of a different flavor. Faeth does not spare any juicy details; however, the details that she provides are those of her growth process, set in a mix of music venues and spiritual landscapes. It includes an eclectic array of personal insights, music history, and full-bodied seeking. Faeth involves diverse, ancient traditions, ranging from the Tarot to the teachings of the Rosicrucians, in her quest for self-knowledge. At the end of the day, she discovers her own rockin' self, and the reader is left to appreciate the many similar journeys that he or she has taken towards self-actualization. I recommend this book as a reminder that we are drawn into certain experiences in order to grow, and by accepting the challenge we enhance our ability to facilitate the growth of others. Thank you, Laura! And, should you, dear reader, decide to venture into the pages of this book, enjoy--it's a total kick! |
