I have never written a review on Amazon...ever, and I buy stuff from here all of the time, but this product impressed me so much that I wanted to share my experience with you and recommend you give it a try.....so here we go. I ordered a set of the Vipr Black FPS Freek for my PS3. They arrived today and I placed one on my right analog stick, the one you aim with ;). It was a little awkward feeling at first because I wasn't used to having my thumb so high up, however when I tried moving the stick around a little before actually jumping into any gameplay it felt so smooth and drastically different. It took about half of a game of Hardcore TDM on MW2 to get fully used to using it. I always play on insane sensitivity (10) because I like the ability to turn faster, the FPS Freek helps to control the slower turns while still giving you the ability to spin like a tornado if you want to. After a few hours with it my accuracy has already gone up from 18.03% to 19.33% which may not seem that impressive to a casual gamer, but that is a huge leap in a FPS especially for such a short period of time. It feels like its built pretty solidly and its definitely comfortable, it was a little difficult to snap on at first just because the analog kept rolling and it would snap on crookedly. I gave my other one to my brother for him to use on his 360 as this product fits both the 360 and the PS3 controller. I am definitely looking forward to his feedback since we are both avid gamers. The Vipr Black color is nice, its just all black which matches my controller better than the white one which is why I bought it and it matches my brother's CoD controller as well. I seriously think this is the best peripheral I have ever bought for a game system other than a second controller. For the more than casual gamer that prefers to play FPS I would whole heartedly recommend this product especially when a $10 item can do so much for you and a friend or your second controller. I hope you found this review helpful, if you have any questions about my experiences with it I'd be glad to help out.

5.0 out of 5 stars I call them Thumb Extensions, November 11, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

First off I want to start off by saying my wife laughed at me when I told her that I was ordering thumb extensions. I know that's not what they are called but that is the easiest way to describe them. I got them in yesterday and I used them last night. They installed with no issues in under 30 seconds and are very secure on my controller. At first I thought that it was going to raise them to much, but as I started to play I realized they did nothing but improve my game play. I've only played Call of Duty: Black Ops with them and it improved everything from sniper use to the control of the M60. Great product. As a note. I have very small hands and I was worried about having to reach to far to use them and hand fatigue, but it's actually much more comfortable.

Bad Company 2 is my game. I play it on xbox and I play it religiously. I though these were kind of funny at first and purchased it as more of a joke to show some friends, but now I love them.

By extending the stick height with FPS Freek there are two major bonuses as far as I can tell;
1. A larger field to move the stick over.
2. Easier movement of the stick. (allowing you to be more precise)

Though the pack comes with two I only use one on the right stick. I increased BC2's sensitivity slightly more than what it would be for the relative increase in stick height, meaning I had to grasp an increase in sensitivity. The slight difference in ease of stick movement makes it easy to grasp. It took an hour or two of game play and some fiddling with the sensitivity but in the end it was worth it.

I am a long time BC vet (PC 1942 to present console) so I was already doing pretty good. While an increase in precision has definitely helped, the noticeable difference for me has been in the close quarters firefights, ESPECIALLY when you find yourself passing someone on a corner or turning to shoot someone behind. The added sensitivity lets you turn exceptionally fast and as a result I am able to win a lot more of those occasional situations. It is almost comical when your opponent is slowly trying to face you while you are circle strafing him.

Even if you only increase the sensitivity relative to the added height you still gain a bonus by getting some more play on the outsides.

These aren't epic game changers, and they aren't a necessity to playing well, but the difference is noticeable and my kill/death ratio has improved as a result.

LOVE THESE THINGS!!! be warned in advance that if you have very small hands, or if these are for a child, there may be some trouble, but as a large male adult, i have NO trouble with these. there is quite a learning curve though, im not going to lie about that. I use these for Call of Duty and i had to drop my sensitivity for a few hours of gameplay, but then i was able to start raising my sens. again. i was playing on 4, thats the highest i could go and still hit the long range shots without wasting half a mag on someone. now i play on 7 after a month of owning these little gems and am about to raise it on up to 8. DONT GET ANGRY when your accuracy drops and you start loosing gunfights as soon as you put these on... the learning curve is pretty bad, but keep them on and play your heart out for a few hours and you'll notice your Kill/Death ratio coming back up to where it was (maybe higher!!)

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad but can ruin your controller...updated 12/20/10, October 17, 2010

Maybe I'm an idiot or didn't take my time but putting them on ruined my rubber analog sticks on my Microsoft brand controller. I nudged each one in but then noticed a good amount of rubber was being sliced off on the outer edges in doing this. If I decide to remove them, I'd have damaged analog sticks. Probably will just have to leave them on now. This also created an uneven-ness on the analogs sticks cause of the sliced up rubber. They're slumping a little bit to the side (not from broken analogs but of the tiny bulges from the sliced up rubber). Attach at your own risk!

On my 2nd pair, I put them on my 3rd party controller. The Turbo Fire 2. The analog sticks are made of plastic and are flat. It snapped on fine. The problem is they spin around. Kind of like the ball top to an arcade joystick. I just did a ghetto mod and used clear scotch tape to keep them down. Worked!

On the product themselves, noticed a little difference in better accuracy. A lot better on my 3rd party controller Turbo Fire 2 cause the analogs were garbage plastic and flat. Not worth if for my Microsoft controller since its now damaged. Hard to remove. If I did, I'd probably damage the rubber even worse.

UPDATE #1: I have just received my replacement Hori EX 2 Turbo controller in the mail (see the reviews for those issues). They fit perfectly and is very snug. The shape differs from the regular controller which why they fit so nice. It didn't rip up the analog sticks themselves even using slight force and taking about 5 second putting them on (though you should take your time just in case). Removing them isn't a problem in which takes a couple seconds but it did leave minor indentations (which didn't bother me). It does improve the precision and accuracy for me. The analog sticks on the Hori EX 2 Turbo are a little bit higher than the standard controller so adding these make it even higher. Cause of this, it may not be for everyone. Didn't really bother after using them for a bit.

Update #2 (12/29/10) - Just wanna update my review about the fitting of these items. In my review above, I stated it can shred and rip apart the sides of your analog sticks. I recently tried them on my friend's controller. I carefully and slowly fit them on the his analogs. It fit pretty snug and w/o any damage or indents to the analogs. It seems they were different sizes. I can't explain it. Looks the same and the colors are the same. We both bought our controllers the same holiday season when the Xbox 360 was released. I don't know why they'd be differ sizes. I bought a pair of replacement analogs from ebay to replace my damaged ones. Gave them a try and they fit nicely on those too. I felt so happy about this product that I purchased another 2 pair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great add-on, October 2, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FPS Freek (Video Game)
A great add-on, but be wary:

It must be attached PERFECTLY, and this isn't an easy task to do. You may find yourself removing it several times then re-attaching it to get it just right. Even then, the lips of the attachment seem to not fit as good as they should.

Second, you'll notice concave tops of the sticks. This is opposite of the PS3 controller, and I found my thumbs were sliding away from the center of the stick. I would have preferred the original PS3 style tops instead.

The additional length on the stick grants additional accuracy for gaming by having more room to adjust the joystick position. This is a very welcome addition. It makes me wonder why Sony didn't make the PS3 controller this way in the first place.

I got to admit at first when I saw this I thought it was just a scam saying your accuracy on fps games will improve and that your game will improve, but after seeing many positive reviews i decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did it did actually improve my accuracy and the speed of turning in a way. The people I showed or let try the FPS Freek were impressed as well. I recommend these to any fps fans out there they will improve your accuracy, of course after you give it maybe a week to familiarize yourself with them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relief for my Thumbs!, August 22, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FPS Freek (Video Game)
I purchased this product not because I wanted to improve my aim in FPS, but because lately I've been having issues with my left thumb where it feels like something is wrong with the socket. It would click and hurt when I moved it in certain directions, yet the pain wasn't severe, just enough to put a decent sized damper on my gaming. Additionally, I have been getting into some open world games like Just Cause 2 and Fallout that give you a lot of bang for the buck but can take their toll on your thumbs during long sessions.

The reviews convinced me these L3/R3 button enhancers would stay on the sticks okay, but I had to wait and see if they would actually help with my thumb issues. I'm pleased to say that they did! Not only can I play for hours on end without my left thumb giving problems, but the edges on these thumb stick enhancers are less pointed and softer than those on the PS3 controller, so I can keep playing without the ends of my thumbs starting to feel raw.

They also attach easily enough to your thumb sticks (they may require you to rotate them a little to get a good grip under the pad on the end of the stick), and the only bad thing I can say about them is also perhaps a positive: they can't really stand up to the frantic play of games that require quick thumb stick motions (I discovered this while playing Fight Night Champion), but I suppose if they did an even better job of staying on, then folks would complain about how difficult they are to remove.
