Product Description

Style Name: Cool Beans

Fred & Friends Cool Beans is an ice cube tray that molds coffee bean shaped ice cubes. There are 8 molds per tray. The premise explained on the packaging is to fill the tray with coffee. When the coffee freezes and is added to coffee to make ice coffee the result is stronger coffee. Regular ice only dilutes iced coffee.

GREAT for any dentite! As a licensed practitioner in the moderately-corrupt state of Chicago... err... I mean Illinois, I can attest to the anatomical accuracy of this ice mold. Someone at some point actually made took an impression of (made a mold out of) a well-designed maxillary denture, probably of female origin. I can't attest to the subsequent ice prostheses occlusion without a recipricating arch, but I would imagine it's there. And even then, it's made of ice, so you could probably equilibrate the things relatively easily.

I find it humorous that someone actually complained that the ice melted too fast, but along that line, these ice shapes are perfect for Scotch. I mean perfect. They're the right overall shape and thin enough to slowly and evenly melt, beginning with that sharp nasal introduction followed by a slow and smooth ride to the end.

Style Name: Ice Attacks! Verified Purchase
As a big Sci-Fi fan this is perhaps the coolest set of Ice Cubes I have seen besides the Space Invader ice cube molds. What we have here is a silicone ice cube tray that produces UFO and Asteroids for your drink. Simple in design and use this is a novelty Ice Cube tray worth owning!

The "Ice Attacks" ice cube tray is made of soft silicone. The product has no chemical smell to it and the ice cube it produces also taste clean and fresh, lacking that chemical taste some silicone trays impart into the ice. The tray itself makes the following ice cubes:
- 5 UFO's
- 4 Asteroids
- 2 Small Asteroids

The molds produce very detailed cubes like the image on the box shows, but the clarity of your ice will depend on how clean of impurities your water is(I use a filter on my tap water) and how evenly the water freezes while in the mold. Overall without much effort every batch of ice that the tray makes came out nice and with great detail. As great as the ice cubes are, the tray itself has a few minor problems often associated with silicone ice trays. While the tray does not impart any chemical taste, it is very hard to carry once filled. Removing the ice cubes when done can also be a bit difficult. *** I do have a solution to both problems listed below

OVERALL
This is a great novelty ice cube tray. It is built well and has held up exceptionally well as I slowly build my army of UFO ice to invade my drinks. The only real negative I see here is that you only get 1 tray with your purchase. Besides that this is a fantastic silicone ice cube tray that will liven up your drinks!

Style Name: Coolamari
I was extremely excited about the cute ice cube trays from this company, so I bought not only this one, but the yeti, centipede, shark, robot, and diamonds. When I received them, I washed them by hand as well as I could. After 3 loads of ice in the Coolamari, (if you are the person to eat ice raw like I do occasionally)the cubes taste horribly of plastic. Not only is it horrible, but the plastic taste lingers in your mouth after the ice is dissolved. I'm hoping the taste goes away after washing again and more ice.

Making ice in this tray (or any of the trays by this company) is a skill on it's own. The trays are extremely flexible, and in order to fill in the tentacles you have to pour water all the way to the top. The only way you wouldn't spill water everywhere is if you have a ginormous freezer with a flat tray that's perfectly level and you pour the water in the tray while it's already in the freezer.

Ice cube extraction is annoying. Something is always stuck somewhere, whether it's the legs or the head or both. The first cube I extracted shot across the floor and broke into pieces. If you want these to pop out fully in shape, you have to stand there and slowly work them out. This is going to freeze your fingers and even then you have a 50% chance of them breaking.

I really wanted to like these because they look so cute in the pictures, and the molds are adorable. I also really like the idea of little shapes of ice, but after dealing with these, I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

My Husband and I are the owners of a Dental Laboratory and these aren't only FUN to add to drinks when we have Dentists in the Lab for a Seminar, but I also have my own soap making business and I have several of these trays, some I use for Ice, the others I use as Soap Molds to give as Gifts to our Dentists as Novelty gifts when they come to our Seminars. They love them and so Do I! I have the Guitar trays too for soap molds I make especially for my Father who is a professional guitarist. These work well for Candy molds too. Just melt some chocolate and pour. So many uses, so much fun, two thumbs way, WAY up!

Style Name: Chill Bots
I love novelty ice, and I love robots. And I love Bea Arthur as Maude Findlay; nobody could rock a polyester pantsuit quite as tastefully as she could. But let's get back to ice and robots.

I am a fan of Fred and Friends ice trays despite their shortcomings, mainly: they don't yield much ice, and the ice can be hard to maneuver out of their silicone molds without breaking the shape. I have yet to release a single in-tact Chillbot and I find myself wondering aloud whether replacement legs for actual robots would be called prosthetics or just "legs."

The end result is creepy floating robot heads too skinny to actually cool anything. You can do better, icewise and robotwise. And let's not forget Robert Wise. He directed West Side Story, you know. And without the aid of the Chillbot ice tray, he played it cool, boy.
