Flavor Name: INDULGE Rich Black TeaSize: 24 Count Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Back in the days when I was full of energy and unbridled enthusiasm, I used to do the whole tea ritual: boiling water, tea pot, loose tea, strainer, cup and saucer, milk pitcher, extra hot water, sugar bowl. It was a ceremony as much as a process. Also I was married to an Englishman who viewed our teabags the way a Southern Baptist Grandmother might view that dance thing where girls get down on all fours and bump their rear ends in the air. But then years went by and so did the husband. Teabags reappeared and the cup and saucer were replaced by the mug. It wasn't nearly as good as brewed tea, but what the heck. The road to hell is paved with convenience.

Besides, it left me more time to mess around with the coffee...grinding the coffee beans (sometimes roasting them!), deciding which apparatus to use: the electric coffee maker that cost more than my car (which actually sounds more expensive than it is...you'd have to see the car to understand), the stove top pot, turkish pot, vietnamese filter, Melitta filter, Boodum press...it was not just coffee, it was a morning's occupation. For a while. The final collapse of civilization arrived with the Keureg coffeemaker. Pour in cold water, press a button, shove in a K-Cup. Greet Satan.

Anyway, the arrival of the Lipton K-Cups made me realize how horribly overworked I was by having to dip that teabag into the mug, take it out, find a place to put it...why labor endlessly when Decadence Beckons? It's gonna taste lousy, I figured, but so what. It will be easy! I popped one of the Lipton K-Cups in, pressed the button and...great tea. It must be the water temperature and the amount of time the water stays on the tea, or maybe it's the work of Old VooDoo Daddy himself. I don't care.

These K cups from Lipton were pretty much exactly what I expected. They are a very quality product. The best thing is that they are incredibly easy to brew and use with your Keurig machine. Personally, I think this is one of the easiest types of tea to brew now and I also love the fact that you get 100 in this package. The tea itself is very good. It is a bit strong, so you should be prepared for a nice bold flavor. They have even added theanine and extra caffeine in order to give you energy. Not just any energy, but a nice smooth burst that lasts throughout the day.

Now, if you really want to give that `tea provided' energy a big boost, give this one a try: All Natural Organic - High Energy Caffeine Instant Black Tea Powder (Over 100 Servings Per Package) - Buy One Get One Free!

This is some of the strongest black tea that I have found. It also includes a nice amount of added caffeine and even theanine, which is responsible for leveling out that energy surge. Not to mention the fact that the taste is very good--incredibly rich and very strong. I like having this in morning since it really gets things off to a great start and takes almost no time (it is instant after all).

Flavor Name: INDULGE Rich Black TeaSize: 24 Count Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
One of the reasons I like my Keurig machine is the variety it affords me. When I saw this Lipton variety in the Vine newsletter I snapped it up, as I think Lipton normally makes a fine cuppa. I expected this to be a nice cup of black tea, but I was sorely disappointed.

Even as it was brewing the aroma was not the aroma of tea that I'm used to but it had a "sweetish" aroma.

I drink my tea either plain or with lemon and sugar. I tried this "Indulge" blend both ways and was equally disappointed each time. Mrs. Boilermate tried this plain as well, and she said she didn't care for it either.

I'm not sure what the "natural flavor" is that is listed on the ingredients panel, but both Mrs. Boilermate and I thought the tea had a distinctive vanilla flavor. While vanilla goes well with many things, it decidedly does not go with this tea.

Bottom Line
We don't recommend this tea, and we certainly won't "Indulge" again. I rarely give "One Star" ratings to a product, but I really disliked this tea that much.

*** Update, September 28, 2013 ***
Shortly after I submitted this review, Mrs. Boilermate took the remaining K cups to her office and left them beside the Keurig machine in the break room for anyone to take. As of this date, she reports less than half of them have been used, so it seems that we aren't the only ones who don't care for this flavor.

I'm writing this on my wife's account - she ordered this for me since I'm the tea drinker in the house.

I love tea. I drink nothing but iced tea, morning, noon and night (yes, I'm strange). Most of the time, I brew about a gallon of tea a day. I'm not a "tea snob" and I like many different types, brands, etc. For black tea, Lipton has been one of my favorites for well over 30 years. When I saw they had this "Iced Sweet Tea", I actually got really excited.

Some days, I don't have the time to brew a pitcher so I was looking forward to being able to make a glass at a time for those occasions when that happened.

I also DETEST stevia. It has an absolutely horrible taste (to me). I made a point of reading the entire listing to see if there was any mention of stevia - there wasn't. The listing said that it's made "from young tea leaves and cane sugar". I even went directly to the Lipton website before ordering it to see if there was any mention of it there - but there wasn't. They repeated the same line about using cane sugar - no mention of stevia.

I happily ordered it, stupidly expecting exactly what it said in the product listing. When it came in, I opened the box and made a glass, expecting the simple flavor of tea and sugar. NOT what I got. It had a HORRIBLE flavor and the aftertaste was even worse. I immediately looked at the box (which I SHOULD have done before opening it) and saw that stevia WAS listed on the box.

I find it incredibly misleading that they don't mention this in their listing, either here OR on their own website. For those that WANT stevia, they should be aware of it so they CAN order it and for those of us that can't stand the stuff, we should know so that we DON'T order it.

As I said, I truly enjoy the taste of Lipton tea, but this is a HUGE FAIL on their part. It's truly a case of false advertising!!
