Rod is Fantastic. I will use nothing but Telescoping Rods ever again.
Now the reel they give with it is a POS but not what I was after anyhow.
If you fish you owe it to yourself to try a Telescoping Rod.
Less space, easy carry, easier storage, look great, work great.

I bought this for a friend. It was well-received. I hear it is a good one. The telescoping feature was a big hit.

I purchased this rod combo for a trip to central America- had a lot of other activities and wanted to be able to do some fishing. There were some mixed reviews for this item along with good and bad ones for the longer and shorter vesions of this rod sold by the same company. I figured for the price, I would give it a try. First off- I am not sure why the even sell this rod with the reel that they sent- the reel is total junk, and not even suitable for this size rod at all. I would have been happy to save the $2 the reel was worth to have them just not ship it- it also made me think that the rod would be of similar poor quality, but it was not. The rod is very light weight, but has proper stiffness for it's length. I was throwing a 1/2 oz sling jig with it, and it felt perfect. Aso felt good when I was reeling in fish- mostly in the 5 pound catagory, but with proper drag, it would work with much larger fish as well. I just took my Daiwa reel/14 pound test mono from my regular salt water rig and attached it to this rod- worked great. I had read a couple of reviews that said that the eyelets are poor, but I don't see that- they certainly are not high end, but work just fine, and each eyelet is mounted to a metal ring that reinforces that section of the rod, so I also do not understand the durability issues mentioned by some reviewers. If you want to take a trip, and want to do some fishing, I can definately recommend this rod- the reel can be used as a paperweight or for a prop in your kids school play.

Haven't used it yet, but I set it up & practiced casts, etc.. Real is cheap, but will work well 4 panfish, even carp & cats. Rod seems very sturdy.

It is just poorly executed. The fishing line eyes break off if you try and collapse the pole after use. Used once and since then it has been tossed in the trash. Not very well made and breaks too easy for repeated use. Originally was going to use as a backpacking fishing rod but it didn't even make it to the forest. Good design, bad parts/labor. Do not purchase unless you intend to use it for emergencies/leave it extended all the time...
