5.0 out of 5 stars Insulin cooler
This product is awesome. I travel a lot & there is no more fooling around with ice & wrapping the bottles so they do not freeze. I've also had insulin freeze before while in motel freezers before because the setting on fridge wasn't adjusted correctly. Not a problem or worry now. I do volunteer trips to disaster areas & have had my ice packs thrown out or misplaced in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Frio Cooling Wallet
I bought the Individual size cooling wallet and used it when I traveled from Chicago to Spain.
I think the wallet kept my insulin cool for 20 hours although the insulin did not feel cold when I took it out of the case and refrigerated it.
My insulin work well when I used it, so the Frio wallet worked to keep my insulin fresh.

I do volunteer trips to disaster areas & have had my ice packs thrown out or misplaced in the freezer by others....not knowing my situation. I can keep the Frio with my stuff until I'm ready to travel again. I just soak it in water & it's ready. There is no thawing on long car trips or flights!

5.0 out of 5 stars good device if used properly, May 6, 2007
This review is from: FRIO Individual Insulin Cooling Wallet - Blue - 1130INDIV1130INDIVBL (Health and Beauty)
I spent 60 days on the road on my motorcycle. I didn't think I could go 60 days camping with out airconditioning. Shade and air flow were the key, I had no problems with insulin going bad, not one of the 2 vials and 2 pens I took with me.

4.0 out of 5 stars COOL, April 27, 2008
This is the 2nd pouch that I have ordered. It is the right size to fit in your purse and keeps the insulin pen cool. I purchased another brand (poucho) and was very disapointed...the cooling pouch only lasted for several months. The previous Frio pouch I had lasted over a year....the one drawback to these pouches is that when you need a new one you have to purchase the whole package, when the outer cover is still in good shape. This product should be offered as a package or as individual items.

5.0 out of 5 stars Used Frio for Years, December 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have had three Frio's over the past decade (They did not stop working I just lost them after three years or so) I have used these in the desert, the mountains and in third world countries without reliable power. I have never had a problem with my Frio's. Get the right size! Add water when you need to and you will be fine. If you are going to 110+ heat just go up one size bigger.

4.0 out of 5 stars work well if handled correctly and know what to expect., March 12, 2010

I have several of these originally bought for insulin for my dog and more recently bough and used for my own Byetta pen. The first thing you have to realize is that unlike ice it won't go from feeling very cold, almost frozen, to lukewarm as the ice melts and the water warms. I think many people expect this given their previous experience with ice. It essentially holds the appropriate temp as long as possible so you don't risk it getting too cold or too warm. Also, its not going to work crammed in a pocketbook or backpack but needs to be carried in a side pocket or carried separately where it can get ventilation of any limited sort (it does not even need to sit near a fan or car AC vent). The pack with its insulin traveled many a mile in the net side pocket of my dog's backpack and aside from getting dusty (as the dog is closer to the ground, of course) their were no issues with it. Don't expect it to hold its temp in any more then the stated temps, it will start warming at even a degree above and I have found it may not hold the temp for as many hours as stated if its subjected to hours at the max temp. Otherwise, it certainly solved the problem of dealing with ice, water leakage and sweating and continual change of temp that you have with ice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Again, USED AS DIRECTED, a GREAT find!, April 27, 2010

Heidi (Plymouth, MN USA) - See all my reviews
I'm about to buy my 7th & 8th FRIO pouches. Have used for over 6 yrs, in freezing MN winter, hot CA summer & in Italy on vac, when ice wasn't always available. Being diabetic 45 yrs (don't remember life w/o it), I've owned almost every cooling unit invented. FRIO pouches keep my Lantus & Humalog pens at steady cool temps whatever the weather. I use one for my purse (yes, for ME it works great - recool every 3-4 days for 8-9 mos, then as gel slowly breaks down, need to recool every 2-3 days til I tire of looking @ dirty outside pouch & replace w/new one.) Mine tend to last well over a yr, but I don't wash to outer pouch more then 3-4x/yr. You really DON'T want to inject ice cold insulin, do you? Ever wonder why some get a little bump post-injection? Ice cold insulin & an injection speed Speedy Gonzalez would envy. I'll happily argue with Kathleen/MA that I'm GLAD I have to buy both pieces ea time, as the interior of a busy diabetic/mom's purse is a nightmare! :) And the individual who used it first for the dog's insulin is right - it'll maintain temp longer in serious heat if kept outside of a purse/backpack. As an active working MN resident, I choose to do it differently. I've stood up for FRIO products for many years. TRY IT, follow instructions, & have a great/SAFE life!

2.0 out of 5 stars Very unhappy with the high temp performance, November 30, 2006
This review is from: FRIO Individual Insulin Cooling Wallet - Blue - 1130INDIV1130INDIVBL (Health and Beauty)
Used as directed and lost 3 pens when the temperature hit 100 degrees. Foolish me, I kept thinking that the error was mine because of all the supposed reviews about how great this item is in hot weather. We had a small and a large pack. The small pack was essentially worthless, the larger pack seemed to be large enough to keep for for last for a few hours. Works great as long as the temp doesn't go much over the recommended maximum temperature for your insulin and/or you keep it cool by adding some kind of ice pack. If you're expecting the answer to having to carry around all the stuff in the heat...this isn't going to be it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frio Wallet to small for Opticlik, August 18, 2006
This review is from: FRIO Individual Insulin Cooling Wallet - Blue - 1130INDIV1130INDIVBL (Health and Beauty)
Was diappointed in how tight a Opticlik insulin pen fits in case, causes gell to seep from seams, needs to be bigger.
