Frontline Plus,
By Betty Boop "BB" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: FRONTLINE PLUS for Dogs and Puppies - Up to 22 lbs - 12 month supply (Misc.)
This is a great product--it does work very well. My vets assistant told me if I buy Frontline from Amazon I am NOT getting a legit product as it is only sold to vets. While it is true it is only sold to vets..it is NOT true that the vets office is the ONLY place you can get a legit product.
I emailed Merial and they confirmed I did indeed buy a legit product from Amazon. Go to the Merial web site--email them, as I did and they will give you a phone number to call so you can verify whether or not you have a legit product. I am not saying don't be careful...please do..but I buy Frontline Plus from Amazon..it works and it is legit.

Effective but a bit expensive,

This review is from: FRONTLINE PLUS for Dogs and Puppies - Up to 22 lbs - 12 month supply (Misc.)
Our 2 puppies got it this year and, as far as I can tell, they are bug-free so far. I can't say whether this is because of Frontline or because there are no fleas in surroundings but, until evidence to the contrary emerges, I will give Frontline the credit.
The makers claim that Frontline Plus kills all fleas and prevents re-infestation for up to one month. For 'paralysis tick' protection, bi-weekly application is recommended but results are not guaranteed. The product comes in a number of 'pipettes' that contain an oily-sticky liquid that is applied on the back of the dog's neck's, on the skin (must part the coat until the skin is visible). The makers recommend monthly applications. I found it easy to treat the dogs. Given the relatively high price of this product, I've been using one pipette for our 2 puppies. As they are now big, this may no longer be an option but I can see how this option could be a money saver for anyone who has 2 'not so large' dogs. I am taking one star away because of the ridiculously high price.

Been using this for years for my dog with no issues. Purchasing through Amazon/Pets Direct was less expensive than direct with Pets Direct.

Caused Seizures in My dogs,
By Kalamazoo (New York City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: FRONTLINE PLUS for Dogs and Puppies - Up to 22 lbs - 12 month supply (Misc.)
My dogs have been having seizures on an almost regular monthly basis since they were 4 months old (they are littermates). I only started recently searching about the relationship between Frontline and seizures, and there are SO MANY people whose pets have had seizures from Frontline--just do a tiny bit of research. Your vet will deny it but there are too many people who have reported it. Sure enough, I realized my dogs were having seizures 1-2 days after each application of Frontline, like clockwork. (and all other causes have been eliminated--they have a healthy diet, etc etc)
This product may work well on some dogs, but for mine, the evidence is clear and the Frontline has been causing seizures in my dogs. Many people have reported that their dog stopped having immediately after stopping using Frontline. I'm switching to a gentler, natural brand.

My dog has used these since she was a pup - two years ago - and we have never had a flea problem. The last time I had pets, I had to take them for a flea bath every three months. While they were gone, I'd vacuum and spray all of the carpet and upholstered furniture with flea stuff and treat the yard, too! (I live in south Texas where fleas thrive and had learned true hard way that it was much easier to prevent an infestation than to get rid of one. . . .) Now I just follow the directions on the package at the first of every month and we have no problems. My vet recommended Frontline/Frontline Plus, and though I continue to monitor the warnings, my dog has never had a seizure or any problem at all. It seems from my research that the biggest risk is to use a dose that is greater than the one recommended for your pet. I buy a year's supply at a time and our household is happily flealess!

I've used this product on my dog for 5 years. He's never had any sort of reaction from it and I've never seen a flea or tick on him. The only issue is the price of it. But Amazon.com sells it cheaper than anyone else.

frontline and seizures,

My little lhasa means a lot to us and everytime she has a seizure we feel so bad.
We are used to her seizures since they ve been happening sporadically for 3 and 1/2 years now. She is medicated, sees the vet on a regular basis, does blood works and all sorts of tests every 6 months. Basically she is very well taken care of. However, what happened last week was totaly unusual and tragic: After taking frontline on Thursday last week, she had seizures for 5 days in a row. COmpletely unusual pattern. She saw the vet on Friday who increased the dose of phenobarb. It didnt help very much. She didnt sleep, roamed around, and seemed completely disoriented for 3 full days. On Monday (4th day) the vet had to put her on another med in addition to the phenobarb for the next 3 days til she felt better. She took valium during the first 3 or 4 days but it did not stop the seizures. Interesting enough, the seizures started exactly 24 hours after the frontline application. My husband and I are positive that it has a corelation with frontline. It's just obvious to us. I just wish I could prove it and then hire an attorney.

Defective Frontline,

I have ordered Frontline for years with excellent results. This is the first time it has not worked-I have fleas all over my house that I cannot get rid of. I feel there was something defective with the product this time. I don't know if it had expired since there was no expiration date-but the product did not work. I am very upset & will not order from this seller again.
