They contain corn syrup, artificial colors, and other junk.

These taste a little like soft, gritty Starbursts, but not a bad flavor at all.

I wanted to try these chews because I am frequently working odd hours and it plays heck with getting to sleep sometimes. That makes me tired and dragged out the next day when I need to be alert and on the ball.

So, that is what I was looking for - sustained energy to keep me awake and alert. Physically, I am in fair shape I think and I am in my early 40s. I do some physical stuff at my job but there is a lot of sedentary stuff too.

The recommended dosage is two chews. I found that two chews gave me a pretty intense headache within a short amount of time - 30 to 45 minutes maybe.

Cutting back to one chew still gave me a headache but not as intense.

Energy levels were good, even great, and even better I didn't feel jittery. I did feel like I was 'zooming' a bit when they first kick in but it was a mild sensation and not long lived (good thing). The boost seemed to last 4 to 5 hours with two chews and maybe 3 or so with one chew.

They are very convenient to use as long as you can store them away from heat - like not in your pocket or on the dash of your vehicle because they do get melty.

They were a little too intense for me even without the headache problem. They do what they claim to do so 4 stars with the last star held back because of the headaches and upfront intensity.

I think a really active person will have a good experience with them.

I have tried all of the FRS products and will agree with most reviewers that the chews have a unique texture and they do not taste "great"...not bad though. The following are the benefits I have noticed over the past 18 months. The primary benefit I receive during excercise is better energy and I have no muscle soreness after running or lifting weights. At work I will take a serving after lunch and I have zero late afternoon lulls. I am intrigued by the research pertaining to the ingredient quercetin. While studies are early there are numerous reported health benefits to quercetin. I am happy with this product and will continue using FRS.

As an endurance runner, I generally use Hammer Gel or Gu. However, it's when the weather is hot and I am running marathons and distances over 20 miles, I feel like the gels just sit in my stomach like lead. I decided to try something else to see if there was a way to power through long workouts and races without having to down 8 packs of gel per race. I tried FRS, and yes, it tastes kind of gross (not terrible though), but it seemed to work. I didn't notice that upset in my stomach that I get from gels, and I also didn't notice the crash I sometimes experience after a race fueled by gels. The FRS Pom/Blueberry is by far the best flavor, and I am not sure what other reviewers are referring to when they say the formula includes corn syrup. The number one ingredient is sugar, but the number two is brown rice syrup, which is digested slower and keeps the blood sugar spike lower. I am not concerned about the sugar count. 6g per two chews is not much in the grand scheme of things if you are working out hard for a period of time. During a marathon run at a consistent pace, you are going to burn about 2500 calories or more... the trivial amount of sugar and calories is necessary to compete. Two chews is only 40 cal. total while hammer gel is about 90 per packet and gu is about 100. At any rate, I endorse this product as I feel like it's really improved my performance without the GI and sugar issues.

The FRS chewables are a healthy energy booster. They are much tastier than the FRS drinks and are easier and more convenient to use. The Berry flavor is good, but the Pineapple Mango is my favorite.

First off, I put about as much stock in sports science trials attempting to prove or disprove a product as I do the contents of any sports supplement's non-FDA regulated or tested nutrition information. There are too many factors for me to ever be happy with the representative sample of humans tested anyways. A spin on Disraeli's famous quote - there are three types of lies: lies, damned lies and sports supplements. Initially I went into GNC looking for some type of energy gel or chew. Not having heard of these I decided it was worth the investment to try them out. If after 30 chews I couldn't find a reason to continue buying them then I wouldn't. I don't find them as convenient as energy gels as far as what they are for energy boosts while running. I eat them before running, typically before stretching and can feel the minimal caffeine content (20mg per two chews) within moments. The thing that I love about these is the type of energy they deliver, or, more accurately, help to felicitate the delivery of, and its sustainability. They won't give you some big boost that's gone in 10-20 mins. The energy is almost subtle. As far as what I've read they are supposed to excite the body into producing and tapping into its own energy store, which is healthy, natural sustainable energy with no jitters and no crash. I have found that they work for me, that what they claim to do happens to actually work with my body chemistry.

In addition to using them for exercise i find that they really do help me to concentrate, which is a HUGE deal for me. I'm a college student with ADD who struggles to focus in class and out, and cannot afford health care for an Adderol Rx.. Once I learned when to administer these to work best with my schedule they proved to be a large boon to my ability to focus in class.
