Product Description

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

The Cameron Satchel by Frye is designed to hold it all This classic handbag is made of hammered full-grain leather and is ready to carry your belongings in an organized manner. Pockets for your wallet, sunglasses, phone, and even a small cosmetic case have their own nook within the handbag. Whether you're traveling or heading into the office, do it in style with this handmade satchel by Frye. Frye was founded in 1863 and is the oldest continuously operating footwear brand in America. With their steadfast commitment to quality and painstaking attention to detail, it takes more than 190 steps to make one pair Frye boots, and a similar set of processes to make their shoes and accessories. They use the highest quality leathers, all tanned with natural oils, which distinguish their products. Frye has developed demanding standards for its materials and craftsmanship, and its experienced team of shoemakers and designers work diligently to ensure these standards are met in every single pair of boots, shoes, or accessories made with the Frye label.

I bought this bag after debating whether or not it was worth the price. I was very excited when it arrived and used it for about a week with the long strap attached before the hook on the right side ripped off! Mind you, I don't carry much more than sunglasses, a wallet, mini-makeup bag, book and keys in it. One week later the left-hand side ripped off. It's now at the repair shop being fixed and reinforced, but once I pick it up I will be hesitant to put anything more than the bare essentials in it, which is a shame because it is a beautiful (and EXPENSIVE) bag.

I could only find the large satchel in red through Amazon so I snatched it up. I opted for overnight delivery and it was here by 2 the next day. (I ordered around 4) I love this bag. The color, the leather, everything is wonderful. The only teeny issue I have is a design flaw. The two buckles on front are magnet closure. When you do opt to close them it pulls the front of the bag up. So my front small pocket is slightly misshapen and doesn't look as nice when closed. Obviously, I just don't close them but I feel like that shouldn't be an issue on a $400.00+ bag. Still, it's beautiful.

*****After having this bag a few months the side straps were so stretched they started to just flop around. Then stitching that connects the front flap started falling apart. I contacted Frye, nothing. Then the d rings for the long strap started pulling away from the bag and the leather is super stretched out. Contacted Frye, nothing. This bag looks like I've had it for a decade not a year and when I attempted to contact Frye I was ignored. Maybe it was jut this one, maybe I got a lemon. I can tell you I will not be purchasing from Frye, ever again. They're customer service is non-existent, which is outrageous for what I paid for this bag. Beautiful for a short burst. I've never regretted a purchase like I regret this one.

I fell in love with this bag and it broke my heart...twice

Both times the long strap attached to the metal side clips came apart within 2 weeks. I generally carry a lot of stuff in my bag, but it wasn't even very heavy. I was wondering if I had put too much in it, but it is designed to carry a laptop, which, thank goodness I didn't have in it.

I wrote to Frye because I LOVE them. I thought they should know this bag is defective The Rep gave me some standard line about how they stand by the quality of their items. She told me there is a warranty on everything and they'll replace or repair it. No thanks - if it breaks within 2 weeks it's junk. I always associated Frye with quality, but not any longer. I'm hoping this was a freak manufacturing thing with this line only.

I am a handbag addict. I buy more than ten bags a year, and most are higher end bags, retailing for more than $500. But I don't remember the last time I was so taken with a bag. This bag has it all - beautiful leather, great design, easy function and comfortable use. I'm tempted to buy every color, but the Cognac color that I bought goes with so much, I'm realizing that I have finally found my true every day bag!

    P. S. When I order this bag, the photo of the cognac was with the shoulder strap attached to the top handle. However, what I received was attached to d-rings on the side. I am so happy I got the one I did, because without the d-rings, I don't think the bag would function as easily.

I was a little disappointed with this purse, I own Frye boots and the quality of the leather is superb. The leather on this purse smelled wonderful but looked like plastic. For this much money, wanted the leather to match the quality of the boots, not there, going back :(

I love the design of the bag...but to me...in person...the leather looked cheesy, the magnets didn't line up and the zipper did not work smoothly. This was the most I ever spent for a bag and I have bought Coach, Nino bossi, Tano, D&B for a lot less that were 100x better made. Went back in a hurry. I'm sure they sent me a returned bag....hope they don't foist it off on someone else at this price!

I love this bag, I have the small size also for everyday. I use this one for meetings, trips, etc. I had problems with the first one that I ordered, the handle was bent and I imagine it would have broken with heavy use, so I ordered a replacement. The replacement also had a problem, the stitching was off in a couple of places, the dust bag was missing, all of the hardware had been unwrapped and it looked as if it had been used and then returned. Sooo, another replacement. I got my bag with a super deal, but even so, I want it to be right. Third bag was perfect. The leather smell is intoxicating, and it has very well appointed compartments. It's about 10 1/2 H by 13 1/3 W. The magnets are placed in the leather, not exposed like in the small, so IMO they are not as potent. So, the latch does most of the work. I ordered the Taupe, its a brown with a little gray, the leather is distressed, like Hobo. I conditioned mine and it brought out more of the brown, so I think it's perfect.

I love this purse but for the money it's not worth it, the shoulder strap came off a month after I got it, too late to send back, have to take it in and have it sewn back on.
