Product Description

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

I really wanted to love these, but I've got very mixed feelings on them. I ordered the mint, which is fairly true to the color shown here on Amazon, though I think it might be perhaps a bit greener in person. I read some reviews around the web where people sent these back because the toe was so pointed, and I thought to myself: "That's ridiculous, you can clearly see how pointed the toe is in the photos!" Well, I have to eat my words, because I truly don't think the photos here show JUST how pointed this toe is. In person it's so much more pronounced, especially when the shoes are on. They're not particularly NARROW, per se, just very, very pointed-- most definitely not a minimizing shoe for larger feet! I rarely put on a shoe and feel like it makes my feet look bigger, but these really do.

I would agree with the reviewer who said they're roomy, but not quite half a size big. I bought my normal size and it's definitely got space, but sizing down would make it way too snug because of the pointed toe. In other words, the toe area fits fine, but my heel slips with each step and it's too roomy in that area-- so sizing down would just make the toes uncomfortably snug. The leather is extremely soft on these, almost too soft, I fear-- they came out of the box already with a bit of a weathered look to them. There is no arch support whatsoever, and barely any cushioning: they're flat, and hard. Also, there is rather thick stitching going all down the insole and it feels a bit unpleasant if you don't have socks on. Not painful, but somewhat irritating. I'm also a bit fearful that these would give me blisters at the heel due to the looseness in that area.

A final comment: one of the first things I think of with Frye is 'made in the USA'.

The leather is so soft. Love the color. Just wore it for the first time and caught people looking at them. :) I wouldn't say they are big, but my normal size seems pretty roomy. Can definitely wear heavier socks with them. Don't go size up for sure. Wish I can afford the nude color one too. That one is very cute.

I've watched for these shoes to return for a long time and have just received in two colors, planning to return one. They are everything I had hoped for. Pointed toe is very stylish and flattering. Sizing seems to be exactly right. Well made, lightly cushioned sole. No arch support but that's easy to fix. I'm very happy with this shoe and will keep both colors.

I love the supple, soft texture of these shoes. The color was so lovely. I fell in love with them but, alas, the toe was too darn pointy. Like...so pointy I wouldn't have wanted to wear them while flying because they might be considered a deadly weapon type pointy. Well, perhaps not that exactly- but the point is severe. I have to ask (scream)--why, Frye? There are my dream shoes, save for that extreme angle. Frye who are you trying to impress? You've shattered my dreams, had the soft, supple perfect shoe but demolished by that 90 degree point! Curses!!!!!

Adorable, fits as expected. Not particularly padded, if you are used to sneakers you may want an orthotic or something. I love them!
