4.0 out of 5 stars Classic TALL boots - same Frye quality
I owned my first pair of Frye 14" boots when I was 17, and those lasted, after a couple of re-soling, for almost twenty years! These have a slightly different toe, and either my instep has increased, or these newer ones are tighter around the calf area. I am trying to break these in (and I will, by golly!) but I may break down and buy a stretcher for the instep, adding...

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange sizing
I'm a long time boot and Frye wearer. I'm used to buying a larger size than I actually measure; it seems to be the nature of boots. I measure 8-1/2. After a return and reorder, I'm currently up to a size 10. They fit, with a great deal of struggling, and very tightly. Because of my history with Frye, I'll hope that they 'break-in' comfortably. I might try a stretcher...

These have a slightly different toe, and either my instep has increased, or these newer ones are tighter around the calf area. I am trying to break these in (and I will, by golly!) but I may break down and buy a stretcher for the instep, adding about another $100 to the cost. But if these boots last anywhere near what my original pair did, it will be worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Boot Made, October 21, 2008
By
I purchasd my first version of this boot in the late 1960's. It lasted forever. This version has a bit higher heel than I remember, but it is just as comfortable. The leather lining makes for an easy fit. For me there was no break in, when I first slipped it on it is like I'd worn the boots all my life.

I owned a pair of Frye boots when I was in my twenties. At 61 I wanted a pair again. They are as good as I remember. I had to go up 1/2 size. A good choice for all.

Run True to size and buy some mole skin to cover the little nylon thread ends that are going to rub near the pull on straps

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Order Shoes from Amazon!, November 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The boots came to me two sizes too small- I've been wearing 8.5 boots for 30 years, normal width, but these boots couldn't take my foot if it were two sizes smaller! Yet this didn't constitute an "Amazon Caused Problem" so I got stiffed full shipping charges BOTH ways.

Don't ever buy shoes from Amazon unless you can afford to pay LOTS of shipping costs just to find out what the manufacture decides is your size! In my case I guess that would be a men's 10.5 or 11 in triple E width!

Also- their definition of "tan" was more like an ogange sand color, not even close to the picture color. Once again- don't buy shoes/boots from Amazon!
