Update... Had these over a year now! These are by far the BEST and MOST COMFORTABLE boots I've ever owned.. Now read on to see my original Sept. 2010 review...

I bought this pair (Tan/Vintage) after reading reviews all over the Internet. They were ALL 5 STAR! I'm not about to change that either. These boots look fantastic! I liked them in the pictures, but when you see them in person there's a real WOW factor!

I took them out of the box, put them on and off a few times to loosen them up and went out and about. They were so comfortable that I couldn't believe they were new! They felt broken in already.

The quality of the leather, finish, construction, stitching, components and workmanship are EXCELLENT. An even better thing is that FRYE makes them right here in the USA. These are quality boots. I'll review them again... maybe in 10 years or so, as these are built for a lifetime of everyday use.

Since you're reading this, I know you're thinking about buying a pair. Don't settle for second best and wish you had bought these (When your cheaply made overseas ones fall apart). Pay a bit more and and get the best! FRYE Men's Harness 12 R Vintage Boot!

I love the look of these boots, and now that they're broken in, I love the fit. During the break-in period, however, one problem occurred: one of the loops that one holds in order to pull the boot on came apart. The thread busted. I repaired it, and now that the boots are stretched for my feet I don't have to pull as hard as I did the day the loop broke, and I was able to repair it myself. The boots seem fine otherwise; just be careful when you're breaking them in.

They are exactly as shown. Excellent and comfortable boot. Hard for me to get on/off because I have high arches, but otherwise they fit excellent. A good boot, no doubt about it.

This ia indeed a comfortable boot which looks good and allows you to be at easy on your feet all day. Very good value.

I ordered "chocolate".

Inconsistent "distressed" look:

I actually ordered two pairs in case I got a "bad" pair. I'm glad I did because one of the two pairs was significantly different that the image, the distressed look was overboard making them look cheaply made. The pair I kept look like the image though.

Variable sizing:

Of the pair of these boots that I kept, the left foot fits and looks awesomely. However, the right foot is slightly wider, just enough to notice and bother you. If your a perfectionist, you'll notice that it looks wider, if not, you'll probably just notice that it fits slightly different from your left foot. Again, I ordered two pairs, and both pairs fit like this. I'm hoping that after they both wear in, I wont notice as much, but for a reputable $250 boot, I expect perfection.

Variable texture:

This is probably because it's real leather and of course, is variable. However, the two leathers on the boots that I kept looked like they were from different animals or different areas of the animal, 1 is more distressed/crackled/porous than the other. Fortunately, the part of the boot where this is noticeable is always covered by my pant leg.

Awesome color / distressed look:

Aside from all the bashing I just talked about, the boots have the worn/distressed brown leather look that I wanted.

I am 70% happy with them, I give this 3 stars because again, for 250 I expect to be 100% happy.

These boots have been with me while trekking through the god damn rain forest, gave me support while climbing a hill in England, and comfort through many a harsh New England winter. After they were done conforming to my foot, the thing became a part of me. There is no shoe or boot more comfortable. There is no boot or shoe more sturdy. They look great, feel great, and will last quite a bit of time.

This is a great product. The boots fit great straight out of the box. The distressed leather gives them a vintage appearance and the leather is soft and comfortable. There are "flaws" where the leather sole meets the rubber - you can see the tool marks from where the leather has been trimmed down. These marks are barely noticable and give the boots a great hand crafted look. A very good buy - the best boots i have ever purchased.

Be warned!!! If you order Tan, you will end up with something closer to the Chocolate color. I have posted two pictures to give an idea of the color. I called Frye Customer Service and the nice woman said she had heard this several times and has passed it on to management (she sent me some free boot conditioner just for asking). 5 stars on customer service.

As it turns out, I like the color of the boot and am keeping them. They went on tight, and for me at least are true-to-size. They were only slightly tight in the forefoot, and have already gotten more comfortable after just a few hours. No heel slippage whatsoever. I am going to Arizona with the family and figured now was as good a time as any to get these. They give me a nice height increase (I am already 6'1") that was noticeable. I feel great wearing them, and my wife said she loves them on me.

Made in the USA quality, and in my opinion, well worth the price!!

Perfect size (as ordered), great color, very durable, take a good beating with everyday use - including handling gear changes on my Kawa... All in all, would highly recommend!

High quality boot. Looks amazing. Well constructed, solid.

Best of all, I didn't have to break them in! I was dreading at least a minor heel blister. Nope.

They aren't particularly comfortable to stand in for long periods, but what boot is?
