5.0 out of 5 stars Best boots ever
I have had these boots for 5 years now (I have them in both black and brown) and they still fit and feel great. I have had them each resoled once. The leather is soft but durable, and wears well. They sort of have a cowboy rugged feel, but still enough style to wear them with a skirt. I read the review about the wide calf area. I didn't find this at all (I don't...

I purchased these boots in Banana. The leather is substantial, and the color was GORGEOUS and the advice about ordering half a size smaller was correct for me. I ordered a 5.5 and I am usually always a 6, and they fit perfectly.

Unfortunately like one of the other reviewers, my calf is too small because the top of the shaft also slapped against my leg when I...

I didn't find this at all (I don't think I have big calves (I weigh 120) but who knows. I find they are one of the few boots that fit well under a tighter boot cut jean. They are not "snug" around the calf, but the boots don't "show" or "snag" (meaning there is enough room to wear under (not tucked in) a pair of jeans (or at least the ones I wear). I still get compliments on these kickers. Gotta love that. FRYE makes a great shoe.

I bought my first pair of Fryes in 1989 -- i still wear them sometimes.
These boots are super comfy. Soon after I bought them I spent four hours walking around town. No blisters, no problems. I wear them all the time -- except in the heat of summer.

Just received my order today and I am in LOVE. I was a bit scared to order shoes over the internet, but I called a million stores and couldn't find these boots anywhere. Summer is here so....First I will say to follow the advice and definitely order a half-size smaller than you would normally wear. I didn't listen and ended up having to deal with returning the first pair, which was annoying. My fault though for not listening. I own a pair of Frye Daisy Dukes, and those are a half-size smaller than my normal size so I should have known better. Anyway, these boots are exactly what I hoped they would be. I got mine in saddle. The color is gorgeous. I was worried about them being too orange-y, but they are not orange at all. The leather is beautiful and so is the wooden heel. I was suprised that the heel was finished and shiny. And the boots are lighter than I was expecting them to be. They are no heavier than other boots I own. They were comfortable the first time I wore them. I love them so much I am wearing them around the house right now. I don't want to take them off. I will definitely be planning my outfits around these boots for weeks to come. If you are on the fence, I would highly recommend getting a pair. They look rugged, but they feel exquisite when you slip them on! My friends are gonna be super jealous when they see these.

5.0 out of 5 stars great boot-another opinion on sizing, October 22, 2010
By
I was in the market for a pair of tall boots. I would have loved to have spent less money, but the classic Frye Campus was the only one that came in the color I was wanted with a heel height that is acceptable. I have really bad feet...anything other than Dansko or Merill clogs are like painful limosine shoes. This boot is not totally flat (boots this season seem to go from no heel to 3+ inch spikes with very little in between) and has a high toe box...that is why it both looks good and is comfortable.

The first thing I did was to look up the Amazon opinions on the Campus style...and I'm glad I did. Because of the sizing issue, I decided that an internet purchase on this item was not the way to go (Don't worry, Amazon, I'll buy my next pair through you). I went to several local stores until I found one that was NOT sold out of the distressed brown leather Campus in size 8 and 8 1/2. I tried both sizes on and I'm glad I did. The 8 fit perfectly...a little too perfectly since I was wearing a regular weight pair of socks. Then I tried on the 8 1/2. There was indeed more heel 'riding' in the larger size, but since these boots are going to be worn in fall and winter, I wanted room for a heavier sock...as there would not have been in the size 8. Solution? I bought the 8 1/2 and took an insole out of a pair of an old pair of Merrills and stuffed them into my new Fryes. Perfect! With regular socks, they fit well with additional arch support. Without the insoles, there is plenty of room for heavier cold weather socks.

5.0 out of 5 stars 40 + years for 1st pair of Frye boots, December 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Love Frye boots, first pair lasted 40+ years and weren't repairable. Ordered the same style although my first pair had more of a squared toe compared to my new pair. Had to get this pair stretched since my right foot is wider than the left foot due to years of point Ballet classes and three broken toes from dirt bike tip over. Still doing a break in routine which is working. Had to drive to Berkeley, Calif., about 25 miles from Walnut Creek, to try on a pair for a size reference. An 8 1/2 was too long, my old pair was size 8 so that's what I ordered. Length is perfect, width will get where it should be as leather gets broken in.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, but watch size, January 8, 2009

I've just returned a pair of these AMAZING boots in a size 8. I am a true 8 and was scared to listen to others who suggested to go down a half size. Well, I needed a 7.5 and i'm having to switch sizes! They are so pretty in real life though and I am thinking they are totally worth the higher price tag. I know a girl who has had the same pair I'm buying (banana) for over 3 years and she wears them continuously! They still look amazing!! I LOVE THESE BOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately like one of the other reviewers, my calf is too small because the top of the shaft also slapped against my leg when I walked. (My calf circumference is about 12 inches)
It was slightly remedied by wearing tights or thick tall socks, but I wanted to wear my boots without those.

It's really unfortunate that I had to return them because these boots are amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars These boots are like made for me!!!, February 19, 2011

I don't think I can speak highly enough about these boots. They're my second pair of Frye's--had the same Campus Frye's years ago in a color that seems to be discontinued--the color Walnut.

Those these in the 'Blazer Brown' are equally wonderful!!!

The color, a deep, dark brown, is simply the most beautiful color EVER and the heel color is outstanding--a nice deep, dark brown too.

What I like about these boots is that they seem to be made for my foot. It's like there's this padding that cushions and holds your foot in place. It's not just leather in there, but some kind of way that it's built, it just holds and hugs your foot.

Looking at the info. card that comes with the boots, it's so great to see that Frye's are still made in the Great US of A!!! And that it takes over 180 steps to make these boots. I can't imagine another company going to these lenghths.

Please, I hope everyone if they ever get a chance, please give these boots a chance and at least try them on for size. I think you'll be glad you did!!!

Cheers Frye!!!

You guys ROCK!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Frye boot review, February 6, 2010

The advice to go a half size smaller provides a good fit for the feet in these boots, but then the calf can be too tight. Otherwise, these boots were as pictured and described. I like them.
