I quit smoking and saved up all the money I would have spent on cigarettes until I had enough to buy some boots. I really didn't have enough for the Carson Shorties. I looked at others until my browser was burning and my eyes were ready to fall out of my head. I finally realized I had fallen in love, and there was no fighting it: I had to have the Carson Shorties!

When the boots arrived, I could actually smell the wonderful leather through the box. I ordered the dark brown, and the color was true to the online image - deep, rich brown, polished and perfect.

I held my breath as I tried them on because I have a fairly wide foot. I also have a high instep that can make me tough to fit. I had to pull pretty hard, but I finally got them on. I needn't have worried - They were perfect! Right out of the box. Didn't even need to be broken in.

They might not work for you if your feet are really narrow - otherwise, go for it! I'm trying to resist the urge to buy a pair in another color.

I decided to spend my Christmas bonus on these boots because I already own the same boot in orange. Last fall I was investigating boots because I wanted to get some cowboy boots mainly to dance in. I might mention I have very muscular calves which was sometimes a problem when fitting taller boots. The orange boots I had found at Nordstrom for half off. I loved them so much I wanted a second pair in violet. My feet have been warm, dry and stylish all winter.

This is a quality boot that fits true to size. The leather is so amazingly soft there is essentially no break-in period needed as with some boots. I love wearing them so much I'm tempted to get them in another color!
