Product Description

FRYE brings its rugged Western sensibilities to a sweet silhouette in the Regina ballet flat. This lovely look in burnished leather boasts a subtle silhouette and an elongated toe. Corset-inspired stitching at the back offers a touch of interest while a rubber sole proves reliable on any terrain.

An unassuming ballet, despite her royal title. Regina is softer than seems possible and eminently portable: fold her up and keep her handy whenever it's time to go low and comfy. Tapered toe and heel whipstitching and tie style flawlessly. Soft vintage leather upperUnlinedRubber outsole

I purchased these in cognac from another store 6 months ago. I just bought another pair from Amazon. This was my first purchase of Frye shoes and I love them. Here are the highlights:

    1. The quality of the leather is fantastic. It ages extremely well over time even when you don't take care of it. Frye sells a leather conditioner/protectant for $9 that I highly recommend. I wasn't accustomed to caring for high quality leather so I just wore the shoes every day, got caught in the rain a few times, trucked through the salt on the sidewalks in winter, walked through the mud and just generally beat them up. There are black scuff marks on the heels (from my never cleaning them), but even after all that I still get compliments on the shoes and they still look good with office attire.

    2. The padding in the soles makes the shoes very comfortable. I tried on lots of ballet flats before buying these, and they were by far the most comfortable of any pair I tried. That was a major selling point. After 6 months of semi-daily wear, the padding is mostly gone, but they are still at least as comfortable as most other brand new shoes I tried. I'm a runner and my legs can hurt if I put on shoes with no support after running. I've never had a problem with these.

    3. The pointed toe and matte leather are very chic. The shoes look great with jeans or slacks. I've never worn them with a dress/skirt. But I can throw on skinny or boot cut jeans and a plain tee-shirt and these shoes instantly make me look neat and put together. (I think they look best with boot-cut jeans. The pointed toe peeks out from underneath the jeans and gives the same visual effect of a nice pump. My sister actually said "I can't believe you're wearing heels!" the first time she saw me in them.)

I am a huge FRYE fan! I own 2 pairs of their boots, 2 sandals and used to own the Abey Studded Huarache flats until I wore them to death. I was looking for a new pair of flats to replace the Huaraches and finally stumbled upon the Regina Ballet Flat. Luckily, the cognac color (which is one of my fave colors in FRYE's) was available in my size on Amazon for the cheapest price anywhere on the internet.

I had seen numerous reviews on other websites regarding these flats: gorgeous, great quality, and of course many reviews on sizing (in which many people advised to order 1.2 size up). Being that all my FRYES (except for the Laney Lace Sandal which ran EXTREMELY large) all fit m perfectly in my regular shoe size of 7.5, I decided to order these Regina Ballet Flats in a 7.5 as well. Trying them on for the first time, it was difficult for me to get my foot in - the shoe did not slip right on. The shoe will need a bit of breaking in, but I am sure the leather will stretch. The Abey Studded Huarache flats that I previously owned had stretched out so much by the end, that I could hardly keep them on my feet.

Overall, these flats are really beautiful and are a great quality. Once I have worn them for a decent amount of time, I will update my review in regards to the fit. I'm sure a week of tightness will be worth it in the end, since once they've been broken in they'll be a staple of every outfit.

UPDATE: These shoes still look great, but I guess the tightness was not worth it in the end. I don't wear them nearly as much as I did my old flats. The breaking in process was long and they still have not stretched enough to be a comfortable every day flat. If I were to wear these every day, I would get a blister on the side of my big toe near the bone so unfortunately I don't wear them that often.

Wear size 8 but reviews stated runs small so ordered 8.5 in black. Arrived - cutest shoes ever and fit good. Liked it so much I ordered a brown, 8.5, but it when it arrived it was too small. Ordered a 9 and when it arrived it felt like it was tighter than the 8.5, and the color (ordered dark brown) was different color tone - 9 was not as nice a color. Had to return both, and won't order a 9.5. Yet the black 8.5 fit great - go figure. Overall, it is a really cute and comfortable shoe but the sizing is a big issue, in the brown anyway.

The toe area of the show was so tight that my foot immediately cramped when I put them on. The length was perfect, but there was no remedy for the narrow toe, so these shoes had to be returned. I might add that I have a medium foot, and have never run into this issue before with shoes.

So I am a FRYE enthusiast. I mean, talk about beautiful leather products. So when I saw that these are now sold on Amazon, I freaked. I get the Regina flats every single year. EVERY YEAR. Love them. They're dainty ballet flats and they're gorgeous and they last.

So in that vein, when I received my flats, they seemed just like the other flats I have come to love. However, just two months after wearing them, the sole in the front is already detaching from the shoe. This is not Frye quality at all. I wore my previous flats to the ground...I mean, I can still wear them even but they look beat up. But these?! These are supposed to be brand new. They don't feel stiff like new leather should. There was no break in period either, which is fine, but made me think that these are refurbished somehow.

Anyway, I do not recommend purchasing here, maybe buy on Frye directly, because these are probably resellers that are selling older, even possibly used shoes!
