I work at a pet grooming shop and we use the original furminator tool. We also use the shampoo and shed less treatment. I recently became the proud owner of a Black Lab puppy. When I saw this item on Amazon at such a good price, I decided to buy it for my own use at home. This desheding tool is AWESOME. I thought what we use at work was really good, but I have changed my mind. This one is much easier to grip and hold on to, and when the tool fills up with hair you just push a button and the hair is out of the way. I totally recommend this item for people with dogs that have shedding problems; Labs, Pugs, German Sheperds, Huskies, Jack Russels and many more. The Furminator tool pulls the loose undercoat out leaving the top coat in a beautiful condition.
I also recommend using the Furminator shampoo and the Furminator treatment along with the deshedding tool. It really does make a big difference. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it.

We All Like The Furminator!,

The Furminator works really well and all our pets seem to like it. In my video, I do a short demonstration with my big fury dog, Abby, and my two cats, Manny and Spunky Doodle. After using it, their fur feels so soft that people who pet Abby always comment about how soft she feels. I put off buying this for awhile because I thought it was a bit pricey, but I'm glad I finally made the purchase. It is very useful and works really well! We have much less fur on our furniture and carpets now. Even though it says it's for dogs, using it very lightly on our cats works well too. As you can see in the video--they like it. We all highly recommend it!

Excellent product. I have three golden retrievers and this comb works wonders. I had the original furminator and this one works tons better. It doesn't cut the top coat like the original and the hair extractor works great. I would highly recommend it.

I love the FURminator. I have a Chow Chow who has a very thick coat all year around. I had about 5 to 7 different brushes for him and still could not get all the loose hair out. My local pet grooming place charged about $85 to have one FURminator session. I was able to find out that this is the same exact tool they use and decided to purchase it. It is wonderful and it can be used often. I use this on my dog just about every other day.

When a friend told me about this tool, I decided to give it a try. I couldn't believe how much it was, but after I purchased it, I am a true fan of this product. I have a short haired 14-pound Jack Russell mix who sheds like there is no tomorrow. This tool has drastically decreased the amount of shedding by removing the undercoat. He loves the feel when he is combed and when I stop, he nudges my hand for more.
Here is what I found when shopping online and at the stores: The size has nothing to do with the weight of the dog, it is just the length of the blade, so I recommend going one size larger than recommended. The FURejector is just a gimmick, it is easier to remove the fur from the comb by hand. There is a difference between the short hair blade and the long hair blade; the prongs are a bit longer on the long hair. There is no difference between the cat blade and the dog blade (other than color) so buy whichever one is cheapest which happened to be the one for cats in my case. Good luck in deshedding your pet!

We have two outside dogs that sleep indoors when it's cold or wet. The smaller long-hair sheds less than the larger short-hair, but both shed quite a bit and tend to smell musky even after bathing. Though I love the dogs dearly, I don't like the loose hair and I don't breathe as well at night when they are inside. I was intrigued by the rave reviews of Furminator and how well it removes the undercoat and diminishes dander. I was almost put off by the videos and reviews that said "you can make a dog pillow with all the hair you remove"...sounds gross and disgusting, but I weighed that claim against knowledge of how much dog hair I sweep from hardwood floors when our pets have been inside for a couple of days. Bought the Furminator with Furejector, and it works very, very well. Before this, the best results I've had were with a hoop-like 'brush', but it was too large and awkward to use on the dogs' legs or underside. And, it seemed I could never "finish" brushing with it...there was always more hair to remove, especially on the short-hair. Both dogs were comfortable with the Furminator wherever I brushed, and it did remove a quite substantial amount of loose hair - though not a 'pillow-full', for which I'm actually grateful. Their coats do seem shinier, they don't need thorough brushing again for a couple of weeks, and we notice far less musky smell...plus, I have been very pleased by far fewer dander allergy problems.

I already had a nice pet brush, but decided to try this anyways after seeing some advertising and reviews. When the it finally arrived the package had broken/was slit in the shipping. At first the brush looked big and bulky (thought I should have gotten the small one, I got the medium). On the package it said small dogs and cats. The comb part of it looked sharp.
I was scared that it would scratch my cat's skin and started to brush slowly with long strokes, making sure that the cat was okay with it. I even tried it against my skin to make sure it is not sharp. It isn't. Not much hair came off with the long strokes though and for a while thought well I guess it isn't that different from my older brush. Then I tried it by brushing a smaller area first and moving to next one, and suddenly a lot of the undercoat hair was coming off. I was amazed how much hair it released. The cat liked the Furminator and was purring. At some point I stopped because there was so much hair coming out that I was afraid my cat would start to look furless. The reason why I gave it only 4 stars, was that it makes the fur static and which leads to me and the carpet being covered with cat hair, lots of it. Cats look leaner now though, and their fur looks better. I have two cats. Medium size brush is great for them, I wouldn't get the smaller or bigger one. The product is well made and sturdy. Great product.

I have a Keeshond and her fur is very long and thick, with a thick undercoat. Needless to say, she would be difficult to brush even if she sat still for it in the first place! I thought this would do the trick, with all the positive reviews it has. I was so excited to use it but still I waited until after her bath and blow-dry since the instructions said clean hair was best to brush with. I used the FURminator and it did not get into her undercoat AT ALL. The only thing it did was rip out her top coat, creating frayed and split ends. I pushed a little harder, keeping in mind the instructions say to go gently but even so, I got top hair only.
I do not recommend this for any thick coated, long haired breed (Huskies, Keeshonds or Malamutes, for example). I'm going to have to go back to using her rake, this is a waste for us. I guess I will save it for when I get a Corgi.

This product is like no other I've ever used before. I have a basset hound and usually have to swiffer about twice a week from walking on a rug where I should have hard wood floors. Using this even just once a week has kept regular "house cleaning" to a minimal. the furminator pulls loose hair and underhair from my dog's coat and she absolutely loves it. The push button release makes disposal neat and easy (just make sure you have a bag or trashcan right beside you when brushing or it will get everywhere). I can say that this brush beats any other brush out there. Great value for what you get in the long run! I have had it for approximately 3 to 4 months now and there has been no need to re-sharpen or order another brush. There are no tangles in the coat after use and she loves to be groomed now. Be cautious on the underbelly and light strokes usually will get the job done. If your reading this review, you've picked the right brush, just let loose with the $, you won't be dissapointed!

My Brittany has always liked being brushed, but it hasn't helped with keeping fur out of the house. I end up with clumps of fur all over the hardwood floors. The FURminator has actually helped the situation, and the dog loves it. The one I bought has the FURejector feature, and I think that makes it easier to work quickly and efficiently.
