My poochies ought to be bald, this stuff is GREAT!,
By elviswoman (Dallas, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: FURminator deShedding Solution for Dogs and Cats, 16 Ounces (Misc.)
I have a Jack Russell Terrier and a Rat Terrier. Both have that short wiry hair that sticks to EVERYTHING, and they make little hair cobwebs throughout our home as well. Brushing wasn't working, frequent washing wasn't working. It was too expensive to buy this furminator treatment and have both dogs groomed too. I was at my wit's end.
I purchased the small blue Furminator tool with 1.7 inch blade along with the Furminator Shampoo and Furminator Solution. I washed both dogs with the shampoo for 5 minutes each as directed. The shampoo smells like Pina Coladas which made the Rat Terrier lick-this is bad as soap does upset dog tummies. But a TON of hair came off of both dogs after the shampoo, about a fist-full each. Next, I slathered them up with the solution, which smells like roses or some other floral scent and left that on for 5 minutes. Again, another fistfull of hair came out with the rinse! I allowed both dogs a couple of hours to dry all the way, then came back and used this tool. The Rat Terrier wouldn't go for it, he hates all brushes. But the Jack Russell Terrier loves being brushed and let me go over her whole body except the sensitive areas with the tool. And let me tell you, I got a wad of superfine undercoat fur the size of her head off of that dog. And the only hair she's leaving around the house is hair that was already all over the place prior to the Furminator treatment. I don't get hair flying off her when petting her anymore, and even the Rat Terrier that wouldn't let me use the tool on him is still not putting out a lot of shedding. I would highly recommend the Furminator products. They are expensive and somewhat time consuming to use, but they work as advertised.

Just another conditioner,

After investing in the FURminator De-Shedding Tool (which was the best $50 I've ever spent), I was expecting similar miracles from this "deShedding" Solution. However, after receiving it and reading the ingredients, it is apparent that this is just a very good conditioner. It contains many of the same ingredients you would find in a very good salon product for humans, but nothing special that will help with the shedding problem. So 3 stars for being a good conditioning product, but I held back 2 more stars, because it won't affect the amount of hair that comes off my dog.

Used this product along with furminator comb. Together it took care of some matting problem with my cat. It is pricey and I am uncertain if it did a better job than less expensive brands...but it did work.

A nice Extra?,

In my opinion the "solution", which is just a conditioner, is a nice extra step to make the dogs soft.
Below is the same review I put up for the Shampoo: My dogs shed like crazy in the spring. I have a Jack Russell with a short coarse coat and an Australian Cattle Dog mix with lots of undercoat. I had the FURminator Large Yellow deShedding Tool with 4-Inch Edge brush for dogs already and like the job it does getting hair off my dogs. Much better than any other brush I've tried. I can't say that this shampoo or "solution" conditioner helped to remove any more hair compared to other products during or after the bath. I do not blow dry my dogs, perhaps the blow drying is an essential step. I will say that the dogs were very soft and smelled very nice for several days. But they were still shedding at about the same rate as with just brushing.

Using the product for 2 years now. Professional Groomer.,

I began using this product 2 years ago because I love my big furry monsters: 1 berner and a border/golden mix. The ingredients are outstanding as professional products go. Hypoallergenic, no drying or irritating, all natural. When used properly (and I do recommend using some sort of bottle to dilute it), these products will give you the most incredible results. The solution sure is a REALLY GOOOD conditioning TREATMENT!!! It works by strengthening the hair shafts and follicles to not only loosen and eliminate dead coat, but also to prevent future shedding by increasing the quality of their skin and coat. When used as directed (every 4 to six weeks *And used properly*), this product delivers everything it preaches. After two years of it, I rarely ever vacuum my home, and I RARELY brush my dogs and have not used the furminator tool on them in over a year. Being a professional, I have the facilities to adequately "blow" out their coats which is were professional grooming can also play a huge roll. My dogs never smell like dogs except on those fun trips to the creek or the lake. I've also used this product on my drop coated maltese to help strengthen and enhance the quality of her coat and it does a terrific job. Her hair is strong, long, silky, and beautiful. One other reason I highly recommend this product is for families with allergies. This not only reduces shedding, but when used more regularly (and again.... properly), ELIMINATES dander and dust! Highly recommended to everyone for just about any reason other than skin conditions!!!! Good luck!

I was so impressed with the Furminator and the Furminator Shampoo, that I purchased the Furminator Solution and the Furminator Supplements as well. We are on our 1st re-order of the supplements.
We currently have two Golden Retrievers so the promise of any product that helps with shedding has my interest. These products are so effective that my only complaint is that they were not invented years ago. Since we started using Furminator products, the shedding is kept to a minimum (I've read in other reviews that even this improves with time and use of the products.) The products are made of high quality natural ingredients. The dogs love the smell of the Furminator Shampoo and the Furminator Solution. The Furminator Supplements drive them wild. They love the flavor, lick their bowls clean and then return hoping there's something they missed. The Furminator tool is easy to use and effective. Here is the end result: I have two great big hairy yellow dogs with minimal shedding. Their coats are as soft as silk and their fur has a healthy glow. Their last Furminator grooming was several days ago and they still smell fresh and fabulous. I am so thankful to find products on the market that under-promise and over-deliver results. Amazon has the best prices on these products I've ever seen and the free shipping is a total deal clincher.

I hesitated to purchase this because of price..but wow....does it work! I was actually shocked at how much undercoat came out with the this solution and the Furminator tool. I'm sure our cats are greatful..even tho they weren't that happy at the time!

I was a little hesitant to purchase this shampoo and conditioner since it is a bit more expensive than other options. Boy, is it worth it! First, it will last a long, long time. A little shampoo/cond. goes a long ways on each dog. Second, make sure you follow the directions. Massage shampoo in for 5 minutes then follow with the same steps for the conditioner. It gets so much extra fur from each dog, leaves them so soft and shiny and smelling so nice. It is a must to use both the shampoo and conditioner. At the end of the bath I use the dog chamois as well and think I finally have the perfect process. I have given 4 baths now to 4 different dogs: Jack Russell/Min Pin mix, German Shepherd/Husky (hairy dog!) mix, Lab/Retriever mix and a Retriever/Visla mix. I was completely satisfied with each bath I gave.
