This review is from: FURminator deShedding Tool with Double Edge (Misc.)
I have a Ragdoll cat with medium to long hair and even with frequent grooming he still shed quite a bit. After reading the reviews on the single edge tool I thought the double edge would be twice as good. This ia a well made professional product not a piece of plastic junk. I could not believe the amount of hair that came off...could have filled a throw pillow. If you're undecided, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Works Great But Double Edge Not Better Than Single,
By
This review is from: FURminator deShedding Tool with Double Edge (Misc.)
I got this when it was $24.37 not $49.99. At that price I'd recommend going with the single edge Furminator. The product works great, but the two edges really don't remove twice the hair because I can see that most of the hair is removed by only one of the edges. But that one edge is fantastic. My medium haired cat sheds constantly. I couldn't stroke the cat without clouds of hair flying off. The house looked liked some evil fairy had come through it and sprinkled cat hair on everything. I couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to try this. Based on the reviews I read of the single edged Furminator I knew a lot of cats did not like this tool and my cat already didn't like being groomed -- Grooming sessions required restraining the cat and giving him a toy mouse to chew otherwise he'd chew on me. So I fully expected he'd hate the Furminator. To my great surprise he LIKED it. No restraining necessary. He particularly enjoys having his cheeks and chin stroked with it. Some days he'll even roll over for me to do his belly. On other days he'll get tired of it before I'm finished. But even then he doesn't try to attack my hand anymore; I no longer need the toy mouse for the grooming sessions. As the other reviews indicate it removes the hair. After I've used the Furminator it's possible to pet the cat without all that loose hair flying off. In fact, that's how I know it's time to groom him again -- when the hair starts flying.
It has also reduced the hairball problem. My cat (who's on the large side: 36 inches from nose to tail and almost 14 pounds) would get these massive 6 inch hairballs every month or so and I could hear the poor thing trying to cough it up for a week or two before it would finally come up. Since I started using the Furminator the cat hasn't gotten a hairball. Though I'm sure he'll eventually get a hairball removing all that loose hair is causing it to form more slowly. So I highly recommend the Furminator. I can't say if your pet is going to like the Furminator, but if it does count yourself as among the fortunate ones. EDIT: It's been nine months. The cat did get one small hairball this winter, but that's because by using the Furminator during the summer and fall I had already removed the loose hair. Come the winter he was barely shedding so I had stopped combing him. But once I realized I needed to occasionally comb him even in winter there hasn't been another hairball. This spring was the first time I had the Furminator when he shed his winter coat. The Furminator removed the entire winter coat in a single grooming session! The more I use the Furminator, the happier I am with it and the more impressed I am.

Improvement over single blade, especially for long hair cats,

My Persian hated the single blade Furminator; the double blade version she
almost welcomes in comparison. I loaned my new double blade Furminator to my feline veterinarian to see first hand the difference especially for long hair cats (the single blade tends to pull too much with long hair cats, especially soft coated Persians). The cat clinic will now be ordering double blade Furminators for their clients to use on their long hair cats. As I will no longer be using the single blade version on my cats I have donated the single blade Furminator to my favorite animal rescue sanctuary for their rescue cats (volunteering weekly I know the cats need the best grooming tool available).

Superior for Medium- & short Hair Cats!,

I have the single blade Furminator in Small and Medium sizes, but the double edge is radically more effective per stroke and appears to be more tolerated by my cats since the double-blade design distributes the load of the comb edges over a significantly larger area of the cat's skin and reduces irritation and pressure from weekly grooming. The cats are definitely are more patient with the double-blade design than the single blade models made by Furminator. I only wish they made this model in the Small size for the smaller areas around the ears and neck of a cat. I tried this on a Beagle and he seemed to prefer it over the single edge model also. As far as loose fur removal, the double-blade design is far superior to the single-edge models and requires substantially less time to remove the same amount of loose fur. This grooming tool is highly recommended.

The best de-shedding tool out there,
This review is from: FURminator deShedding Tool with Double Edge (Misc.)
This is the best de-shedding tool that I've ever used. I currently have a short hair Siberian Husky and a long haired Australian Shepherd. Both are indoor dogs, so you can imagine the hair! We have had Huskies for the last 15 years, so I've tried every form of de-shedding tool that is out there. The FURminator gently pulls the loose undercoat up to the surface for easy removal. A once a week brushing with this tool has greatly reduced the amount of hair that accumulates in the house. I've also noticed that I don't have to vacuum every day anymore to keep ahead of the hair! Great product. Really works as it's advertised. I am recommending the FURminator to everyone I know who has a dog.

Best tool for shedding!,

This tool is great! My husky/chow mix was taking a long time to shed her winter coat due to climate variations and it was a chore to keep up with the loose hair. A groomer showed me this tool and it looked like it would get the job done. I ordered it and actually was able to get it at a much lower price than the current one. It does the job quickly and easily. You do have to be careful not to bear down too aggressively against the animal's skin, though. My dog likes me to do only a little bit at a time because, I assume, of the double blades. I would definitely get another one and recommend this to anyone tired of chasing after "tumbleweed" hair.

Amazingly Effective!,

My adult tortie cat sheds white undercoat hairs EVERYWHERE! I was introduced to the Double Edge FURminator by a pet groomer. It is unbelievable how much of the undercoat comes out with gentle glides that my cat seems to love. It is well worth the $$.

I use this on my 5 cats and my very large dog. They all tolerate it well, and it seems to tug their fur less than other brushes I've tried. It gets off a LOT more fur than other brushes I've used--to the point that I'm a little worried one of my cats will be bald if I keep using it daily.

this "brush" is all it claims to be-just shreds the fur off without pain to the dog or cat. I've been telling anyone who will listen how good it is.

Great product, my vet recommended and all I can say is wow. After using the first time my aust shep. looked and felt like she had just been groomed. Just start slow and easy, and dont apply too much pressure. Also the furminator waterless shampoo(8oz) is very good at keeping your dogs coat clean.
