I LOVE this book. I like creating things from felt (all types) and the ornaments and gifts in this book can be made in regular felt or woolfelt. There is nothing in this book I didn't like. I plan on making the trees (on the cover), the various little felt birdies (really cute), some of the ornaments. Anything in here would make a nice little gift, too. The layout of the book is nice and the pictures make one drool! If you like felt crafting and have basic sewing and embroidery skills, you will like this book.

Usually I am disappointed with the craft books when I received them. There are usually useless items in them that I would not think of creating. These are really imaginative and ones that I can and will make for gifts and decorations for my home.

This is a great book, full of fun things to make for Christmas. Great for gifts or to keep yourself. Easy directions and just adorable felted items. Easy to understand directions. All templates at back of book, just need to be enlarged and your ready to go.

I loved this book. The projects were all easy types to accomplish without a lot of skill. I made the animal crackers set, the felt cones, gingerbread house, and the critter portraits rather quickly. I did have trouble at my local shop trying to enlarge the patterns by 200%. I didn't do all I wanted to as I wasn't that skilled using the machine. I really wish they had been enlarged in the book in the first place. That is my only criticism of a really useful book with many easy projects.

Great ideas,

I love felt, and sew with it quite a lot. This book contains lots of projects that I would never have thought of on my own, such as the felt Christmas cones, the creature-portrait ornaments, and some great recycled-felt trees. This Christmas, "Fa La La La Felt" projects will literally be in every corner of my house.
Most of these projects are very very basic. If you know running stitch and don't mind free-hand drawing your own patterns, you can probably have figured out how to make almost all of these things on your own. This makes it a perfect book for a beginning sewer (especially as felt is such a lovely, easy fabric to work with) or for a more experienced sewer looking simply for seasonal inspiration. However, if you are looking for new techniques, or challenging projects, you might find this book a little elementary.

I purchased this book for its adorably stylish ideas. There are TONS of fabulous projects in this book and I found it just in time to decorate for the holidays!
I saw that some of the reviewers were disappointed that they had to enlarge the patterns. The book looked too cool to pass up for that reason - so I bought it. -And happily so! I had to chuckle after I saw the patterns at the back of the book -they're teeny! But the shapes are SO basic (and adorable) if I need a pattern -they can easily be drawn on tracing paper in the size I choose. I can't wait to take this book to 'show 'n tell' at my sewing group! (I was also *thrilled* to find out it was published in Asheville and written by an Ashevillian!!)

Really great projects!,

If you've never worked with felt before, the author includes simple and clear explanations about types of felt, thread, stuffing and embellishments. She also tells what you need in a basic sewing kit to work successfully with felt. There are also illustrated guides to embroidery stitches, which you would use to finish your projects.
Falalala Felt is filled with more than forty fun felt projects grouped by ornaments, decorations, and stockings. All of the project can be used at the holidays, but many of them could also be used year round, like the darling birds, hearts, fish, matroyshkas, and more. I loved how they turned the classic pink and white frosted (with little colored balls) animal cookies into tree ornaments! Those would be cute as a decoration in a baby's room year round. Many of the projects use a very simple hand stitch, but there are also some no sew crafts, like the felt scrap wreath -- save your scraps! I loved the stunning hand stitched gift tags, as well as the beautiful reverse applique style, used on a Christmas stocking. And the tiny felt gingerbread house ornaments were darling. Falalala Felt is a delightful craft book filled with fun ideas that a beginner can easily make, plus it gives wonderful inspiration for the seasoned crafter, as well!

the patterns are nice the only problem most everyone had to be enlarged several times. the library can do so much. then you have to take them to a printer that enlarges.. if i had known before hand i would'nt have bought the book.

I bought several holiday craft books in the hopes of making some new decorations this year instead of buying things. This is my favorite book by far. Not only are the designs adorable and fresh, they also are attractive and charming! In my other books, some of the ideas sound good but the end result looks a little too kindergarden-y. Not so in this book! I cannot wait to get started making things.
The book itself is put together beautifully. The pictures, the formatting, the fonts! About the only thing I would wish for would be a spiral binding so I could lay it totally flat and make copies of the patterns a bit easier. Still, I have a feeling that my future is going to be filled with a *lot* of felt! |
