This pottery wheel is a lot of fun for my 11 year old daughter. The first time we use it, she did not add enough water to the clay, so the machine labored quite a bit. It then shut off to cool for about 10 minutes. It came back on after that. She now kneads more water into her clay before putting it on the wheel so the machine does not labor too much. She really likes it. You can purchase refill packs of the clay as well. The wheel moves at one speed that is fairly slow. The only real downside that I can see is that it is a bit loud. But it is not a nuisance to us.

I bought this for my granddaughters 8th birthday!! This was easy to use , and fun even for grandma , I also let her try to do it herself after the first bowl she made, and the bowl was better then the one we did together!!She loves it!!

I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday and was very disappointed that it didn't work. We put in new batteries and the wheel would turn for a a minute or two at a time and then stop. We gave up after about 10 minutes and put it back in the box.

I didn't have much hope for a pottery wheel/kit in this price range. But my daughter wanted one so I decided to take a chance on it. I must say, it works better than I expected. The wheel spins at a good pace and is controlled by a foot pedal that is easy to operate by my 8-year old. The instruction booklet is very thorough and has tips for making operation easy. The clay does slip off the wheel at times but if you follow the advice in the book and dry off both the wheel and the clay, it seems to work better. The only frustration is in making anything more involved than a small, shallow dish or "pinch pot". I hope with more practice she/we will be able to make the taller vase that's on the box.
