The Royal Collection is a fabulous assemblage of Faberge objects. There are three imperial easter eggs including a spectacular "Basket of Flowers Eggs". Additionaly there are 98 animal objects (including kangaroos and koalas!), flowers, boxes, frames, desk objects and practical objects. These pieces are of a uniformly high quality and are are a pleasure to behold. The book begins with brief articles about the collection, royal collectors and the house of Faberge.
Given the superior standard of the printing and color reproduction the present asking price (around $30)is a positive steal. I have 2 other books concerning this subject; "Faberge in America" and "Faberge Imperial Jeweler". While the dedicated Faberge enthusiast would want all three, the reproductions in the Royal Collection issue are undoubtedly the best in size and quality. A magnificent book. |
