3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing.
Reasons why i got the guide.
-Just cause. I have a thing for 'limited editions'.
-I wanted maps. With fable 3, and fable 2 before that, i often times felt a little lost. Even after my third playthrough, I still dont have a mental map of mistpeak.
-Most of all, i wanted a better idea of how morphing worked, and what the different morphs looked like...

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes., November 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fable III Limited Edition (Hardcover)
Having played all previous titles of Fable and owned the regular strategy guides that they were released with, I found the Fable 3 Limited Edition Strategy Guide to be both more detailed, and an excellent complement to the LE Fable 3 game package. Just picking it up you'll notice the bulk and hardcover, which makes it much more than a strategy guide. First of all, though, I'd like to mention some of the extensive game coverage included in this that you've never seen in any previous strategy guides:

You start off with the basic setup, controller map, and then you have your walkthrough for the entire game. After that, you get the Albion Atlas(showing both treasure and collectibles locations in each area), Weapons and Items & Clothing. All of these are done in beautiful detail, with high quality images directly from the game, and with nice background graphics.

But in these later sections, too, are some of the newer things they've added, such as the Real Estate Magnate section, which lists pretty much every house and shop in the game, along with its base value and income rates. This is great if you're trying to get a grasp on the wider estimate of money you'll need to earn and/or steal in the game for a certain area, without having to physically go to every house. This can also be done in the in-game Map, but a quick reference guide without, again, having to go to each city and point at each building, is very convenient. You know, I bought every piece of property on the map in Fable 2, and this, along with Fable 3's SUPERB new user interface, makes me all the more willing to take the same route in this game. It's perfect for a completionist, and I have fun being one with this game.
Another excellent addition is the Achievements and Avatar Awards section with tips on how to get each one, which, you'd think would be in a SG anyways, but this is the first time I've seen it in a Fable SG. Great job.

And that about does it for the strategy part of it. The final quarter of the book is pure beauty, though. You can spend an hour or two just looking through it, really. The video review done by another reviewer is a great way to take a look, and you may notice after playing the game that almost every character as well as every map and the objects in it will appear in this section in vivid detail. A lot of what seems to be concept art as well as 3d model images directly from the game, and you even have a section that shows all of the Orwellian propaganda posters. You don't always get a chance to see the full posters while playing, which made this another added bonus for me. Lionhead Studios really did a phenomenal job with this release, and their fine touches have not gone unnoticed. It's so much more than a game guide - it's a work of art that goes up on my bookshelf next to Giger, Tolkien and Lovecraft instead of in a stack of magazines. After I finish the game, that is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must buy for any fable fan, November 13, 2010

This is a STEAL for what amazon is selling it for. pretty good maps, however not that many of them. Amazing art section that any fable fan can spend alot of time looking through. The flag cover is just a dust jacket. Underneath of which is a well made hardcover with one of four cover art variants. must buy for any fable fan.

Even the casual gamer will enjoy this book. Whether you enjoy the art, the storyline, the locations, or the achievements (or everything!), this book has quite a bit to offer. It is a large hard cover text with a guild seal dust jacket. Also, there are 4 separate covers (I got the King Logan one). The price here is outstanding, since other sites are selling this for $35. Finally, each book has a redeemable code for a tattoo for DLC fans. Any Fable player who has enjoyed the story so far would love to have this book - it would make a great gift as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide, must own for every Fable Fan, November 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fable III Limited Edition (Hardcover)
The Fable III Limited Edition Guide by BradyGames continues the tradition of detailed walkthroughs and collectible value. Very easy to read, helpful, and filled with tips. Like the previous Limited Edition Guide for Fable II, which I own as well, it includes a hefty section filled with the art used to make the game. Also, like it's predecessor, it comes in one of 4 different cover arts. Lastly, similar to the Limited Edition Guide for Fable II, it comes with a Hardcover, but this time it is a proper Hardbound Cover like you'll find in schoolbook and not an additional removable hard cardboard cover on top of a flimsy one. All of these features are exclusive to the Limited Edition version of the guide and well worth the extra money in my opinion. Must own for every Fable Fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars just gorgeous, October 28, 2010
This review is from: Fable III Limited Edition (Hardcover)
THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL. THE BOOK LOOKS AND FEELS LIKE A HARDCOVER NOVEL (IN SHORT HEAVY), AND WHILE IT DOES HAVE ALL THE THINGS THE NORMAL ONE HAS (INCULDING THE DOWNLOADABLE TATOO CODE IN IT), THE ART SECTION IN THE BACK MAKES IT WORTH IT, THE COMMENTS GIVEN BY THE ARTISTS OF THE GAME ARE TOO THE POINT, BUT HAS A BIT OF HUMOR (ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET TO THE PART ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF NEGOTIABLE AFFECTION....LETS JUST LEAVE IT AT THAT)..- IF YOU COLLECT STRAT GUIDES, OR ARE A FABLE FAN THIS IS A MUST.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing., December 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Reasons why i got the guide.
-Just cause. I have a thing for 'limited editions'.
-I wanted maps. With fable 3, and fable 2 before that, i often times felt a little lost. Even after my third playthrough, I still dont have a mental map of mistpeak.
-Most of all, i wanted a better idea of how morphing worked, and what the different morphs looked like.

For the most part, the guide delivered. I hadnt actually read up on it, so i didnt know what all was included, so there were a few surprises for me when it arrived.
-First, was when i found out that there were a number of different hardcovers, and that i wouldnt know which i had till i took the sleeve off. Turns out it was one i liked, which is a major plus.
-I also learned that it came with redeem code for an ingame item. again, a plus.
-Also there was a concept art book inserted in the end, which was very nice.
-The maps in the guide were what i was looking for, and more.

Then the disappointment(s). I am having trouble deciding if it outweighs the good.
- there is absolutely none of the information i was interested in for morphs. the only information the give you is a list of all the legendary weapons, the damage they do, and the requirements for their unique upgrades. the hero weapons are barely mentioned anywhere.
- there are also a fairly large amount of incorrect information, as well as grammer/spelling errors. for example, page 294. this is in the weapons guide, and 2 weapons on the page, one right below the other, are the splade and slimquick, both of which show having the same requirements for upgrade. dig 30 items, kill 300 humans, kill 50 nobles. while this is correct for the splade, the slimquick is actually quite different. its as though the boxes were copy pasted, and then never got corrected. there are other spots where it is obvious that the writers, or editors or whatever, copy pasted stuff that was of the same format just different info, but never got around to correcting the parts that were supposed to be different. All the errors make it feel very cheap to me, and make me glad i didnt pay full price. Part of the reason for having a guide like this is so you have all the information right there, and dont need to use for example the fable wiki. but if you have to go to another source to get the correct information anyways, then why should you buy it in the first place?

I want to give it 4-5 stars for how nice it looks and for the extras that come with the limited edition, but i cant get past the very sloppy editing, and lack of information i was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This, December 30, 2011
This review is from: Fable III Limited Edition (Hardcover)
Right now i'm quite obsessed with the Fable series so I was really happy to get this for Christmas. First off I was surprised at how big this book is, i don't know if i was expecting it to be thinner or what but it's actually quite heavy and feels really well made. The inside of the book has beautiful illustrations of the characters, weapons and locations. Haven't had a chance to use it along-side the game yet but it looks to go into pretty good detail.

Long story short, i love it.
