I greatly enjoyed the original Fable game, but found the second to be less enthralling and didn't care for the third at all. So I've become detached from the franchise and while I'm a fan of Peter David I have not gotten to his Fable novels as of yet. But as this story focuses on the main villain from the original, it provides me an ideal starting point.

The first great adventure of Albion has been told, and the villain Jack of Blades defeated and destroyed. But bungling wanderer Xiro comes across the village of Oddwood and finds something else: people in terror, ruled by a very much alive Jack of Blades and his brigands. Who then forbid Xiro from leaving...

Fable: Jack of Blades is a nice little callback to Fable, and captures the titular character well. This story works in contrasts, and while I found it predictable it is well told and layered. Definitely worth a read for fans of Albion's first adventure.

Now, to be honest, I did get bored at one point, but being an extremely easily bored person it was close to inevitable.

..And when that's out of the way, wow, I really enjoyed this short story!
It's got a plot-twist like you could only expect from the Fable franchise, and let me tell you this.
If you're a fan of Fable, the original one, and The Lost Chapters, you will not be disappointed.
It's worth it.

The story is (obviously) short but it's a nice jaunt back to the days of the original Fable, where Heroes were plentiful in Albion. The story focuses on a haphazard philosopher who blunders into a... Lets just say a bad situation. It's so short I can't reveal much more without ruining the thrust of the plot. The very ending though has a rather neat twist & raises many questions about Albion's first formidible foe...

This book is great the main character isn't who you think it is. It's called Jack of blades for a reason. Xiro is Jack of blades! Not the one who you think is at first.I didn't play the game but I love the story. You'd be smart to read it

I've been a fan of fable since the very beginning. I always enjoy enriching myself with some good Albion lore! Especially Jack of Blades, who is still by far the 'best' worst villain Albion has ever seen. It was a very interesting read.

The lost chapters is my favorite Xbox game created. I saw this book on my favorite villain in a game a naturally decided to read it. While it was incredibly short it did bring on a new perspective to Jack of Blades

Jack of Blades was one of the best parts of Fable and even better in Fable: Lost Chapters. This little glimpse at him outside the game is fun and satisfying. Anyone that enjoyed Fable should read this.
