My Fable Review,
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fable: The Lost Chapters (DVD-ROM)
As an avid console gamer I am often skeptical of PC/Mac games. I have played my fair share of PC/Mac games to include (but not limited too) Black and White 1 & 2, F.E.A.R., Half Life, etc. And have actually enjoyed them all. After hearing that Fable was avail on PC/Mac I was fairly worried. I own Fable for the Original Xbox and was worried some things might get lost in the translation and controls. I must say that I am mistaken. This game is truly a gem. I know that a lot of individuals are now more interested in this game now that Fable 2 is around the corner (exclusive on 360 for now perhaps PC/Mac later). So this will be a possible want for some gamers. But the fact of the matter is this is a NEED for gamers. Peter Molyneux does an EXCELLENT job with Fable. The controls transition smoothly from console to Mac. The story remains the same. Fable is a game that truly lets you play how you want (good/evil/mix) and even changes your appearance based on the extremes. You constantly do evil things and have your moral slider over to evil you can grow horns and have glowing red eyes. On the flip side if you do constant good things and continue to be a hero you will "glow", your hair will become whiter etc. And the people will react accordingly. You can have different hair styles, tattoo's, expressions that will effect how people react to you as well. You can fall in love (with a man or woman), buy a house, drink at a bar, etc. There is so much to do! The story line is fantastics and once you get into it you will be hooked. I will not give out story details because I don't want to spoil any of this for you. There are also quite a few choices that you must make throughout the game. One's that I honestly had to pause and think "do I want to do this?" Lionhead honestly made a truly one of a kind game with Fable. But with its awesome praise there must come negatives. I found that the story may not have been as long as expected. For me it was around 8-9 hours. That's not to say it would be maybe a few hours more because I haven't completed all of the side quest. All in all it is a truly unique game that offers you a true choice to be good or evil. And in my opinion this is in my top 5 games of all time. This is a MUST HAVE for any gamer! Hope this game will bring you as much fun as it has brought me.

I honestly do not know why people are having issues with the game. It is a fantastic game. Why give the "game" a bad review because you are having computer issues? Rate the game for the gameplay, not computer problems. I run it on a Mac and havent had any issues whatsoever.

Game is fun worked fine on my MBP, sometimes it does crash when i start it up, but then i just reload and it works fine. My grip is that the game is too short, and once your big and bad, no one can touch you. The other is that I would like to get Fable 2 and 3 on mac, (as well as other RPG etc... games) but I don't think that will happen any time soon.
Anyway I bought this game while in Afghan, and it got to me soon enough, no damage, so Amazon did fine.

A good game for a console, not good enough for mac or PC,

RPG and adventure games for consoles are necessarily simple because of the limitations of an Xbox or a PS3. Fable is ported from an Xbox game, so if you are used to great fantasy adventure games like Diablo or Neverwinter nights then this is a big disappointment. It is also written with a series of stock cliches, you start out a kid, your village is killed, they take you to a guild to train you up. Every bit of dialogue is taken from the stockbook of boring lines and the horrible acting is cringe inducing. The Alignment part of the game affecting your appearance is very novel, if horribly pedantic: the game tells you when you're about to do something bad or good, and when you are making an alignment choice. Better alignment system were developed decades ago on better games, but again, it's a console platform. I'd recommend saving your money for Neverwinter Nights 2 if you want to game on a Mac. It's like playing the Sims on your computer vs. playing it on your Wii, there's simply no depth or breadth to Fable: The Lost Chapters whatsoever.

No performance, no service,

I'm giving it one star based on the problem and response outlined below; the second star is because I think it would have been a good game had it worked for me.
I tried loading this game twice, and both times on startup I got a blank screen, with the only escape being to manually shut down the computer. I emailed the company, which is in England, and they wrote back saying that they've noticed this is sometimes a problem. . . . ?????? They said I'd be contacted within the month by someone who would try to work it out with me, but I was never contacted. I consider this a pretty poor response to a problem that occurs frequently enough for the manufacturer to notice. A kindly retailer allowed me to return the game for exchange, but I'm pretty sure I'll never try another Feral Interactive product.

Worst tech support ever!!!,

So, I had heard loads about this game on xbox, and was excited when I heard it was available on mac. So, I bought it, and have regretted it ever since. I can't actually say that the game was bad. I haven't actually been able to play it.
I'm running a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 15" Macbook Pro, which supposedly meets the minimum game requirements. Nevertheless, the game consistently freezes during the first cut scene before the actual gameplay. This looks like it could be an awesome game, but I can't get it to run at all. So, I used their online tech support (b/c I'm not calling the UK! What?! No USA tech support?!) and submitted and explanation of what was happening, and the system report of my computer that they want. And, now two weeks later (and a second submission) I have yet to hear a peep from the tech support. I've never had this much trouble on any other game. Maybe it's just Feral Interactice is stupid. So, I'd rate this game as a 0/10, b/c of all the hype, without any results.

Game crashes. Downloaded and installed updated version. That crashes just the same as the older version. Cannot play at all. Will see if tech support responds.
