Editorial Reviews

Lilith Noir is a hardboiled freelance enforcer for the shadow government that keeps watch over the city of Fable, a mythical realm that exists just beneath the surface of our awareness. When a fast talking private detective shows up on her doorstep, Lilith is faced with the case of a lifetime. A new drug has hit the streets of Fable, black market Ouija boards are everywhere, victims of bizarre murders are choking the city morgue, and the prime suspect is an ancient demon masquerading as an urban vagrant. Witchcraft. Guns. The Occult. Never a dull day in the twilight city.

4.0 out of 5 stars Edgy, Gritty, & Unpolished Cool. (Cultish w/ a hint of camp.), September 26, 2010
This review is from: Fable: Teeth of Beasts (DVD)
When I 1st started watching this, I thought, "What the hell?..." I started it over again after realizing it wasn't a spoon-fed storyline held together by seamless hyper-special effects with multiple camera angles of the same scenes put together by a company with unlimited resources. Once I realized this, I really enjoyed the ride. Different filming techniques were used, obviously, which added to the gritty coolness. It's actually a fun film to watch with actors/actresses interacting without scene stealing and trying to upstage each other. You feel like they are actually "there" for each other. If this film had been done by a major Hollywood production company with the usual suspects filling the roles, I would not have liked it as much. The storyline is a good one, but it's not beaten to death and rammed down your throat at every opportunity. Accept it's almost cultish-hit type demeanor, and you will really dig this movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fable: A World of Wonders and Horrors, October 16, 2010

This review is from: Fable: Teeth of Beasts (DVD)
First, I am the guy who wrote the screenplay for this (also produced) so of course I am bias BUT I did not direct or edit and was not on the set all that much. So when I watched the screener for Fable: Teeth of Beasts...I was pretty much at the same point as anyone with no involvement with the film would be - a stranger. In all honesty, I like this movie! But I have to agree with the first reviewer - if you go into this film expecting your typical, paint by numbers, cookie cutter sword and sorcery SyFy epic, you may be disappointed. Fable: Teeth of Beasts combines elements of sword and sorcery with conventions of film noir and generous dollops of cyberpunk. Unlike other films of this type, the action never stops so characters can explain what just happened or what is going to happen or the relationship between other characters. This film unfolds in real time, as in a real world with no explanation required because why would these characters need the obvious explained to them? You, the viewer, are along for the ride so just hold on and go with the flow. All is revealed eventually. And what a world it is. We set out to create a world that was all its own - a place where science meets magic, technology meets alchemy, dreams meet nightmares. And we succeeded (in my opinion). Made for a budget that would probably just about pay for a single outfit in your typical Hollywood actioner, the film looks like it costs far more than it did. Every cent spent is on screen. The characters are strong. The acting across the board spot on. Steady direction. Neat special effects. And all sorts of odd little accents that make the world of Fable: Teeth of Beasts all the more real. Fans of sword and sorcery, science fiction, horror and action should all enjoy. Welcome to Fable indeed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Freakin' Awesome Cyber Punk Goodness !, September 16, 2010
This review is from: Fable: Teeth of Beasts (DVD)
Starring Melantha Blackthorne.
WOW,Just try and label this `Punk Noir' piece of SciFi /Horror effort.
This is amazing in its nods to Blade Runner,Clive Barker and HR Giger.
Melantha is truly One-Of-A-Kind in her portrayal and owns this world of Green Screen,CGI and some effects that are off-the-hook.
There are some really thought out characters that help the lead for better or for worse.
How did the screenwriter and for that matter director come up with this most unusual and successful film ?
