Brandon Mull is the author of the New York Times, USA TODAY, and Wall Street Journal bestselling Beyonders and Fablehaven series. More About the Author

Brandon Mull no longer lives on the side of a mountain above a prison. He now resides in a happy little valley near the mouth of a canyon with his wife and three children. Since the arrival of his new daughter, he is more the golem of the household than ever, following whatever orders trickle down the chain of command. Brandon is the author of the New York Times bestselling Fablehaven books and The Candy Shop War.

The characters were great--from the main characters (Seth and Kendra) to the side characters full of mythological creatures with very original twists.

Fablehaven is possibly the most imaginative series I have ever read. If you're a reader of Middle grade and YA, I believe the tone of this series falls somewhere between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. Fablehaven is a whole lot of fun like Percy Jackson with higher stakes--much like Harry Potter. I would even venture to say that this series is even more creative and full of imagination than either of the above mentioned series. I had more fun reading than I've had in a long time. In fact I read the entire series during a one-week vacation. The twists and turns were incredible. Typically I know what's going to happen before it does. Fablehaven was always a few steps ahead of me... at least.

The characters were great--from the main characters (Seth and Kendra) to the side characters full of mythological creatures with very original twists. The build up from book to book was amazingly paced, making the whole series feel like one flawless, single book. The stakes continued to get higher and the action, twists, and turns increased along with the depth of the relationships. I couldn't stop turning the pages.

I look forward to checking out everything else Brandon Mull has written. He is one of the most talented authors writing in this genre... or any genre for that matter.

Fablehaven is a fun series for families. If you like fantasy stories with magic, trolls, fairies, ghouls and other mystical creatures then this is your series. The main concept of the story is to keep the Society of Evening Star from getting the key to unlock a demon prison. Also if they unlock the demon prison it could cause the destruction of the whole Earth.

The main characters in the story are Kendra, Seth, Stan and Ruth Sorenson. Each of them has their own abilities for example Kendra has magical powers, Seth has bravery, and Stan owns Fablehaven. There are 5 books in the whole series I've only read 3, but out of those books they got me wanting to read all of them in one night.

Seth is an adventurer, he sometimes follows the rules. The rules he breaks are just simple to him but the is reality he could get hurt or worse. Kendra on the other hand is the responsible one. She always trust her instinct. She almost always tries to cover up for Seth but it depends on the situation he's in. Throughout the series they make different friends and, some of their friends show them new things.

In the story you should expect excitement, sadness, humor, and other mixed emotions. You should also read the books together or else you won't understand what's happening in the story.
If you read this you might want to read carefully so you know the concept of this series.

I read to my nine year old daily, and most of the time, I don't find the books entertaining, but these were so good, my older kids (19 and 23) stuck around to hear the stories as well. Eventually even my husband read them, they remain a family favorite.

We're half way through the second book, and reading before bedtime has become more than a habit -- it's a necessity! I've been reading aloud with my 10 and 12-year old boys, and they literally beg to continue reading. The funny thing is, sometimes after they go to bed, I need to sneak in a chapter because I can't wait until the next evening! I'm grateful for this special time with my kids and for this unique series that has made it possible. We'll definitely read all five books.

My son read the first book at school and was instantly hooked. After ordering the box set he read the remainder of the books over the weekend. He says they are riveting, exciting, and addictive.
