I was introduced to Jean Luc Ponty's music with the album
Open Mind.I love the trancy, moving, eretheral sound that seem
to transport you to another place and time.My favorite cuts
are Infinite pusuit and Elephants in love.All of the album
is simply amazing.His futuristic sound and style was way
ahead of his time!

I've been liking Jean-Luc Ponty for a long time on Cassette and LPs. While shopping at 2nd hand book store I spotted Fables in their cassette rack. I needed something to jam in the car so I bought it in this old format. IT HAS NOT LEFT MY CAR except briefly when I brought it to inside tape deck to review for an Amazon Cd purchase. My opinion, one of JLPs best. When I am stacking fresh CDs, I spin Individual Choice on the turntable for that brief downtime. As a writer not overloading WMP is helpful, so I have a boombox and a few cassettes (Open Mind & A Gift of Time) nearby to run that is not intrusive as I work. My foray to another place brought me to Amazon to catch some more discs. Cool huh?

This album completed a trilogy for me. Get this, Civilized Evil, and Open Mind and you have some classic Ponty. Not that these were the only good things he's done - but they really do give you a good spread of work.

Nothing bad to say about this album. It's Ponty straight from his Civilized Evil period.

The first JLP album I got(and still his best) was the individual choice. That has the famous 'computer incantation' and soloing by Holdsworth, one of my favorite guitarist. Read more
