About the Author

Bill Willingham is the award-winning writer and creator of FABLES. He has been writing, and sometimes drawing, comics for more than twenty years on titles including Elementals, Coventry, PROPOSITION PLAYER and FABLES. With Matthew Sturges, Bill co-wrote the FABLES spinoff JACK OF FABLES, as well as HOUSE OF MYSTERY and JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA. His work has been nominated for many awards, including the Eisner, Harvey and Ignatz comic industry awards, plus the International Horror Guild award.

More About the Author

Bill Willingham never fought a desperate and losing battle in a good cause, never contributed to society in a meaningful way, and hasn't lived a life of adventure, but he's had a few moments of near adventure. At some point in his life Bill learned how to get paid for telling scurrilous lies to good people, and he's been doing it ever since. He lives in the wild and frosty woods of Minnesota.

I love this series so much and I was really excited when they started releasing the deluxe editions but this edition is just not worth the price. How do you charge the same price for almost half as much content from the previous edition? Like previous users have stated, they just keep getting smaller and smaller. I might have to go back to the paperbacks if they keep up with this trend.

I'm going to be brief on the content as most people buying this are probably familiar with the series. It is worth noting that this is the book that contains the "Israel analogy" which some people regard as the point where the series begins to take a dive in quality in part due to an overt expression of Willingham's ideology. I think that this is a somewhat fair claim in that the series has passed its high point, but the story is still good enough to hold up even if you hit some inelegant patches.

My real issue is that this is a continuation of the Deluxe series move towards smaller volumes. Volume 1 was 264 pages. It was all comic, intro., and bonus art. Volume 6 is 224 about 35 pages of that is pure script. I know some people like scripts, but I expect them as extra content, not filler to make the book look like a respectable size. The MSRP remains the same, but you're getting about 72% of the book.

I love these delux books. They are a great read and so far have beed well worth the price...until now. This compilation was sad t best. Reading of big by and his children was good but for the price you get hardly anything this time. This felt like a random group of books put together, not the over arching storyline of the first books. I wonder if Fables is loosing it's wind. Great up until this. I'm glad I have this as a completist but the wedding was the only must read here and was only two comics.

Lastly the end is a script of the book. Frankly I could care less to see the process. Seems like filler.

I have read all these books and now i am buying the Deluxe Editions. They are just nicer then the soft cover ones and take less room then the comics.

Great end to the story arch, i loved it. The only real complaint is that it was a tad short
