Fares Much Better Than Fabriclive's Premier Did,
By CloudMan (Vancouver, BC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fabric 01: Craig Richards (Audio CD)
Craig Richards gets the knod to kick off the Fabric series with this premier album. Not a bad effort, but I can't consider it great either. Fabric 01 is a set of minimalist house that is mellow and well-mixed, but lacks depth and soul. Despite the lack of lustre, you have to praise Richards for selecting a host of tracks that are not found on every other album from the same release year (which is a very unfortunate and overly too common occurrence with electronica compilations produced under different labels).3.5/5 stars.

my first Fabric mix, THE first Fabric mix.,

I can't believe how far the Fabric series has come.I attended the club in '97 in London to see Adam Freeland (breakbeats) & Dj Dan (funky techhouse). Such a great place, passing thru entertaining djs and rooms of people from top to bottom. This CD was the first time I'd heard minimal tech house, we didn't know what it was and thats why it was cool, it immediately became a recognizable genre, and deservedly so. I think it is a beautiful mix and that it definitely set the bar for the rest of the series.

Groundbreaking house music,

This review is from: Fabric 01: Craig Richards (Audio CD)
Can't believe nobody has reviewed this album until now for it is a breath of fresh air in the world of house music. Craig Richards may be one of the most creative DJ's being a graphic designer and artist as well as a craftsman at the wheels of steel. This cd is perfect example of his skills combined. This CD will probably fall into the tech house genre for anybody who feels the need to categorize, at first it may appear to be mellow compared to many mix cd's. However the song selection and smooth mixing keeps you on your toes as Craig takes you through a selection of top notch records stuffed with lovable melodies, not a cheesy vocal or boring drum pattern to speak of. Anybody who really appreciates good house music will enjoy this mix and agree that there is nothing out there like it today.
