...Terry's latest compilation is so subtle and yet powerful in his demonstration of his art that you'd have to really know your material from the point of view of the artist doing the mixes to appreciate the details Terry has put into this CD. Don't get me wrong, as is true of all great artists, Terry is generous and offers something for all -- plenty here to satisfy even the most casual listener. Great for the dance floor but there is so much more if you want to pay attention.
You know how after being in the sun even the most brightly lit room seems dark? Well, this CD will cause you to have such a feeling about some of your other favorite DJ's works.
Funk: What is it, exactly? A most mysterious concoction of melodies, feelings and beats. Why do some have it in such abundance and crystal refinement and others not at all? We know it when we hear it and this is Funk taken to high art with grace and elegance. This CD is in not just another class but in another orbit altogether. Perhaps only Colin Dale and Dave Angel are of this rank.
I will not hesitate to say that this is the most fresh music in this genre in many years. Rather, Forget genres: This IS great music.
Now, if you could only sample the sound...

Indoctrinated at an early age by Johnny Vicious's "The Beginning," Doc Martin's "Unlock Your Mind," and later, Juan Atkins's "Wax Trax Vol.1," among a few other masterpieces of song selection and mixing--in a word, the art of house/electronic music--I have been alternately desperately and drearily disappointing ever since. The extremely mediocre follow-ups by these same artists eventually confirmed my belief that house was dead. And then came this CD. While Terry's previous releases were nothing to sneeze at--if his song selection hasn't always been emotive, his mixing has always been impeccable--this CD represents nothing short than a renaissance of the art and other-worldliness of house music. I believe that to hear this same music live, at a club, might be a slice of heaven; better yet, my wife and two children there with me, and Terry, and I would be in heaven. I know that Terry probably won't come across this review, but if you do, God bless you for bringing this work to us. I am a bitter critic of most electronic music, but this CD is beyond criticism. It is perfect.
