I ordered this Baseline Portable Body Fat Analyzer thing, and it does not work. At all. I've bought products that have worked kinda stupidly or that I was disappointed in how well they worked, but I never bought a product in my life that flat out doesn't work at all for its sole intended purpose.

For starters, it felt disappointingly cheap and is deceptively tiny in my hands (I can only get like, three fingers around the grip handles and I have medium-sized hands), which you probably can't tell in the picture. I put in all my information correctly, height, weight, age, and sex. I keep getting "Err-h", which the instruction manual says means that my body fat is too high above the range to calculate. The last time I checked my body fat % it was around 14% and when I was in the worst shape of my life it was at 18%, so I seriously doubt my body fat is above the upper range of 45%. I tried it in the morning, afternoon, night, shoes on, shoes off, clothes on, clothes off, before the gym, after the gym, holding it backwards, forwards, upside-down, and kept getting the same unbelievable error message.

I tried calling the number in the instruction booklet for the manufacturer, but they were no help: I waited on the line for an hour and they never took my call, so I left a message. I'd say don't even bother calling them.

But the customer service at HPMS was absolutely wonderful.

Like I said, the sole intended purpose of this product was to tell me my body fat. I'd be fine with approximate body fat, a number of some kind that may or may not be correct. I wanted just a little bit more accuracy than myself standing in the mirror guessing, "...um, maybe like, 13? What do you think?" But to receive absolutely no number at all? Unacceptable.

This is not a bad review of HPMS, I love them. They were nothing but helpful. If you're going to buy this crappy product, make sure you buy from them.
