Buy this and Hyper "Fractured" Bedrock Breaks 2,
By "baby_beluga" (Belmont, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fabriclive.08 (Audio CD)
These guys are just relentless in their energetic breaks. I've only listened to 3 CDs for almost an entire month. This is up there. The only breaks CD that is on par with Fabriclive.08 in my opinion is Hyper's "Fractured" 2 CD set. The Plumps have much more of a quick change style of breaks. They will slap you in the face with a beat right after an explosive break. Their style has a much brighter sound than Hyper, but both are just unbelievable. I bought both at an import store and paid 60+ bucks for the CD's. I still think I got a deal. The music is absolutely charged from track 1 (they should've gone out stronger on the last track). Sorry U.S., The U.K. nu breakz scene has the U.S. on hold right now (I will buy the new Icey this weekend). If it hangs with these strong releases, My pupils will be as big as pennies. Strong stuff.

Dull,

With the exception of a few (literally) tracks, this is an exceptionally dull and monotoneous set. Unless you are a big Plump DJ's fan, I'd give this one a miss.2/5 stars

Another average Big Beat mix from Plump DJs,

This review is from: Fabriclive.08 (Audio CD)
I like the Plump DJs. That being said this is probably one of the most average mixes I've ever heard from them. Not one track stuck out on this mix as memorable. I've found it's the same with their productions, while good they're still pretty average. They seem to have the talent but it's never really fully utilized to differentiate themselves from the crowd. This Fabriclive mix is a perfect example of that. Here are my thoughts and track ratings;1. Intro - Plump DJ's 4/10 2. Form Home - Sound Alliance 6/10 3. Nova - One Upfront 6/10 (Ghostbusters sample riff in this song sort of turned me off) 4. Listen To The Drummer - Nation 12 6/10 (Overused Public Enemy sample) 5. Beyond This World - DJ Abstract 6/10 6. Squeaks And Bleeps - Plump DJ's 7/10 (Solid track to get the crowd moving) 7. Dope Freak - Move Ya 6/10 8. Angelfish - Plan B Vs Plump Djs 6/10 9. Contact 00 - Plump DJ's 6/10 10. Cakehole - Evil 9 6/10 11. 2 Men On A Trip - Lee Coombs & Meat Katie 6/10 12. Alarm Bells - Plastic Pervert 6/10 13. The Drum - Sould Of Man 6/10 14. The Rock - Punx 6/10 15. Energise - Chad Jackson 6/10 16. Electric Appliances - Mr Velcro Fastener 4/10 (Terribly cheesy track) 17. Hey Mr DJ - Screen 2 6/10 18. Back In The Day - C83 5/10 (Loon sounds in dance music? Now I've heard everything.) 19. Punch Drunk - Plump DJs 6/10 20. I Feel Love - Donna Summer 7/10 (Classic Donna Summer cleverly mixed in) The first time I heard Plump DJ's music was on Richard "Humpty" Vission's - Automatic mix album. The track was Acid Hustle and I thought it was amazing. From that point on I always expected Plump DJs to produce similar sounding tracks/mixes. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case and this album is a perfect example. Hopefully someday they'll get back to a sound that I enjoy.
