5.0 out of 5 stars What a great reference book for anybody who sews April 17, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am thrilled with this book. I sat down and read through the entire thing as soon as I got it. It gives detailed explanations on what qualities different fabrics have and what kind of projects they are good for. As an avid quilter I am very knowledgable about quilting fabric. But, as a novice clothing and bag sewist I need some help when it comes to what kinds of fabric are good for diffrent projects.

Not only does she give info on fabric, but she also includes descriptions about notions and pattern symbols. I think this is a great reference book for anybody who sews.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reference! July 6, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was wary of buying this book b/c I wasn't sure what it would contain. It isn't a "reading" book, but more of a reference manual. Something that is very handy for a self-proclaimed "beginner-intermediate" sewer. It has categorized all the types of fabrics according to weave and each one has it's own page. She describes how the fabric was made (interesting), how to care for it, what kind of needles to use with it, etc. Never again will I wonder what to do with cotton voile or anything else I either have never used or don't use often. This is like the modern encyclopedia for fabrics!
