5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, really Fabulous, July 29, 2001

This album inspired me a lot. At the end of each track, as the cd player goes to the next one, you have something in your chest, mixed feelings, just like when you're in love. Listen to it, you'll understand. Go ahead and laugh at me, but when I was listening to it in the store, amid the huge crowd of a Champs-elysees cd store, I felt I was gonna cry in front of all these people. The main instruments present are the accordeon, the piano, the flute, and a whole bunch of very expressive instruments; no singing. It represents a blend of french rythms and melodies, and classical licks. You can go Amazon.fr to hear some samples, or go to a cd store and listen to it; amazon.com imports it, so there are no samples here. The film in itself is revolutionary. You get immersed into the "fabulous" world of Amelie.

You'll laugh, you'll feel sad, you'll feel a whole array of feelings. Don't miss it. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars simply wonderful, February 23, 2002

I have seen the movie twice and I adore it. And the music blend with the movie. They work magicaly together. I have noticed the music tunes during the movie and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the soundtrack, and unlike some movies when you like the on-screen music and then you get disappointed when you listen to the soundtrack, this one just kept getting better and better.
Yann Tiersen did a beautiful job. A real master piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing, July 23, 2001
This review is from: Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain (Audio CD)
Since I saw this movie in France in May, it has kept me up at night, haunting me with bursts of joy and this insane desire to see it again. Even if you haven't been lucky enough to see this breathtaking film, get the soundtrack. My mother hasn't seen Amelie, and the music brought her to tears. Worth the money, worth ten times this much...

5.0 out of 5 stars The fabulous CD of the fabulous world of Amelie Poulain, July 3, 2001

This lovely CD is the soundtrack to a very new movie revolutionizing French cinema. The film, "Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain,"(the fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain) has quickly darted to the tops of everyone's charts. I sat mesmerized for the entirity of the time. Everyone that sees this film is bewitched and wooed dangerously into falling head over heels into Amelie's world. The all to real consequence being the crash at the end when the lights come up and the music fades. I have scoured high and low for this soundtrack and to my sheer delight I have finally found it. It is a wonderful mix of old fashioned accordian music and the songs we all used to hum as children, the written tunes of which never really existed outside our heads. I heartily recomend the soundtrack and the movie to anyone. No one has been disappointed yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical!, January 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain (Audio CD)
I have not seen this movie, but listened to samples of this CD in a record store. I couldn't wait to get home and listen to it over and over! The music tells a story of it's own, with a distinct "French" sound. Yann Tiersen is remarkable, and has a talent for making magical music that will transform you to a different place. This music is a must if you've seen the movie, but again, I highly recommend it even if you haven't!

in total agreement with the 6 reviews I have read...
the movie is unique, superb, delightful, sad...
all of it......Yann Tiersen blows ya away with
Oscar winning instrumentals.....he is uniquely
talented, bringing to light special places
in all of us, with the expression of sound from
music tools that are blended to the point of
(hard to say) personal, intense goose bumps...
hard to say......just close your eyes and listen....
best music sound track I have ever heard, even
over and above Children of a Lessor God
gonna' follow up with acquiring his other releases
