A 'must' for any serious collecting library, especially those covering costume jewelry.,

FABULOUS FAKES: A PASSION FOR VINTAGE COSTUME JEWELRY is much more than just another identification or pricing guide: it captures and shares the author's own enthusiasm for the history and background of costume jewelry, offering chapters spiced with numerous color photos. Her pieces accompany a running history of vintage costume jewelry from Victorian to modern times, offering excellent and vivid insights into show-stopping pieces. A 'must' for any serious collecting library, especially those covering costume jewelry.

A very pleasant well presented book, with great attention to the details of good paper and clear colourful photos. The printed information is interesting and the colour photographs inspiring. I liked the book very much as a frivolous delightful dip into the world of bling.

This book is like dipping into a fabulous vintage jewelry box. Great information and beautiful photos--the only thing missing is the chance to try all this jewelry on.

I loved this book and read it completely cover to cover. It was just what I wanted, but now I want to explore in more depth some of the different designers covered in the book. I bought this just from the reviews give and was not disappointed. I really like this book and would recommend it highly.

This book is fabulous! It has wonderful close-up photographs of the most beautiful vintage jewelry I've ever seen. From the Victorian Era, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Prewar 1920-35, Post Depression 1936-49, the Fifties, Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, and into the Twenty-first Century 2000-present. The author, Carole Tanenbaum (collector), explains the above unforgettable period designs and the jewelry each protrayed designer is known for. I found this book very helpful and full of history. I was awe struck, SO excited, and allured by the designs. Many new jewelry ideas today are adapted from our past. I wanted to immediately sit down and just devour this book. I give thanks to the designers illustrated and a special thanks to Carole Tanenbaum for sharing her collection with us so I and many others are able to study our jewelry predecessors.

I had this book and love it so I purchased another one to give to a friend. When she opened it (I had kept it in the box it came in) the spine was broken. I was and am so embarrassed.
