Book Description

8 and upAvon Camelot Books
The residents of 58 Azalea Avenue are away for the summer. Step inside and view the Family Wall-lined from staircase to ceiling with framed Fantora Family Photographs. In this sequel to The Fabulous Fantoras, B 1: Family Files, a talented and rather superior cat named Ozymandias will reveal the truth behind this intriguing assortment of snapshots as he anticipates autumn and the family's return. Highlights of this loving account include Francesca's stormy revenge against a ballet-class bully, vegetarian vampire Auntie Varvara's momentous wedding, Marco's stint as the invisible (twelfth) man on the school cricket team, and mother Rosie's go at leading a course in "imaginative" cookery. "Put together in the same way that Rosie arranged the Family Wall: a picture here and a picture there," Ozzy's story forms a second warm and funny chronicle of a delightfully offbeat family.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Ozzy, the Fantora family's cat, narrates a second book about his unusual human family. Each member possesses a special gift, from changing the weather to the ability to grow anything to Filomena's talent for knitting that reveals the future. The action swirls around Auntie Varvara's upcoming marriage to an aristocratic Italian werewolf, with other amusing moments arising from young Francesca's ballet lessons, at which she battles with a snobbish bully. Like the first book, Family Files (1998), this is episodic but hangs loosely together and has plenty of laughs as well as an overall warm, loving feeling as the unconventional family mixes with ordinary British society. For slightly younger readers than Sylvia Waugh's Mennyms series. Susan Dove Lempke
