5.0 out of 5 stars No Nonsense Recipes
This book is not one like many I own that are full of pretty pictures and sit gathering dust on my shelf. In fact, there are no pictures at all in this book, just simple, usable breakfast recipes that are really good.

The coleslaw hash browns sound strange, but are awesome and quick. The waffle recipe is to die for and I just made one of the bread recipes...

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing
I did not expect a cookbook like this to include ingredients like american cheese, Bacon Bits, sugar-free maple syrup and Splenda. I like to use non-processed foods and would not use these ingredients. Yes, I know how to substitute things, but I found it annoying. I also do not use a microwave, which some of these recipes do. Finally, quite a few of the recipes call...

This book is not one like many I own that are full of pretty pictures and sit gathering dust on my shelf. In fact, there are no pictures at all in this book, just simple, usable breakfast recipes that are really good.

The coleslaw hash browns sound strange, but are awesome and quick. The waffle recipe is to die for and I just made one of the bread recipes yesterday. I toasted it in the morning, (yummy!) and for lunch I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the first time without wondering if I was going to wake up the next morning with a migraine from the wheat. Made my day!

We made the bird nests for dinner last night - so the recipes aren't just for breakfast! The kids really liked them.

There are 40 recipes, 20 of which are milk-free and 15 are egg-free. The author has a list of which recipes fall under which category.

Each recipe has a shopping list at the bottom of the page, which makes it easy to flip through to see what you can make with what's in your fridge or pantry.

I highly recommend you get this book and really use it. Make notes in the margins next to recipes you try. Keep it out and use it often. You'll love it.

I like to use non-processed foods and would not use these ingredients. Yes, I know how to substitute things, but I found it annoying. I also do not use a microwave, which some of these recipes do. Finally, quite a few of the recipes call for dairy, which we don't use. All in all, about 1/2 of the recipes are useable in my house and only a couple (like the hashbrowns) are creative.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't really match my expectations..., April 6, 2009
This review is from: Fun & Fabulous Grain Free Breakfast Recipes: How to Enjoy Your Old Favorites in a Brand New Way! (Paperback)
I own quite a few gluten-free, grain-free and SCD cookbooks. As always with restricted diets, baking and breakfast can be challenging.
This book has a few interesting recipes though the free ones they display on their website (which I thought were more tempting) are not mentioned inside.
I also think that the price was a little expensive for a small 50+ pages booklet.
If you're looking for grain free cookbooks, I suggest you check/search for "SCD" (specific carbohydrate diet), "Mother Necessity" and "Cooking with Coconut Flour".

This book has been a valuable resource for my patients. Having these great recipes on hand makes it so much easier to live a grain-free lifestyle on a long-term basis. All the recipes have been tested by real people and I have personally tried a number of them - they were very good.

I strongly recommend this recipe book for anyone who is eliminating gluten or grains from their diet! You will find it most helpful.
