This is a great one to break out when there are kids in the mix, when you want something that isn't too thinky, or when you just want something quick and light in between other heavier games. The "press your luck" component is a lot of fun, even when you "crap out". One of the rare occasions in real life saying "D'oh!" like Homer Simpson actually works.

You can be set up, have the rules under your belt, and underway in two or three minutes, and then the game lasts between 10 and 20 minutes usually (in our two-player games). The bits are sturdy plastic in bright colors, very pleasing.

If your kids like Yahtzee (or if you do), this is a good fun cousin to add to your collection.

Amazon's description of gameplay is quite good, though I will just clarify one thing: on any given turn, you are trying for up to three different dice results. So on one turn, you may go for 2's, 6's, and 7's. On your next turn, maybe you'd try for 5's, 7's, and 10's.

This is one of the most fun games out there, and it's a shame it isn't more widely known about. The Amazon description above explains it well, you roll 4 dice, and make 2 combos of 2 to move your pieces up the board. Simple enough, and very easy to learn. But there is strategy involved (always go for the 2's and 12's!) and politics ("you're so close! just one more roll! ...too bad...").
Great social game, by far the best in my collection! They should bring it back and start selling it new again!

Can't Stop is a very well designed push-your-luck dice game. Why is it better than Yahtzee? Well, for one... it's more engaging. You will be playing against other players on the same board, not participating in multi-player solitaire. Add a lot more meat to the strategy level over Yahtzee as well.

Great for all ages/player levels. The mechanics are simple and can be followed by anyone who can roll dice and ad up to 12. The room for deep (math) strategy is certainly there as well.

Can't Stop is a evergreen press-your-luck dice-rolling filler from master designer Sid Sackson, and one of the most outstanding games of its type, so if you've never played it before, do yourself a favour and check out why it's been so popular.

In Can't Stop, players roll four standard dice, which they'll divide into two pairs. This entitles them to move their markers up the corresponding tracks numbered 2 through 12 (all the possible results for a pair of D6s) on a stop-signed shaped board. If you get your marker to the top first, you can claim that column, and the first player to claim three columns wins the game. But now here's the catch: on your turn you can keep re-rolling in an effort to move your markers further - but if you roll a combination of dice that doesn't let you make a pair of dice that moves upward at least one of the three markers you're using that turn, you lose everything you've gained that turn. Ah, press-your-luck at it's best!

Can't Stop has a fun and addictive quality about it, and despite the fact that you're pushing luck, it's not pure luck because there's enough decision making to make it interesting. It's also quick enough to prevent the luck from being too frustrating. It's easy to teach and learn, and has attractive components, so it all comes together in a package that makes it the kind of game that is suitable for just about everyone. As far as press-your-luck dice games go, this is a tried and true classic from a master designer, that still has the same appeal today as it did when it was first released 30 years ago, and that matches the best of the press-your-luck dice rolling fillers of the modern era. This is one of our family's favorite games!!! It doesn't take a long time to play, and it doesn't require rocket science strategy!!!... it's just easy and fun to play. You can use strategy, or you can just wing it... you can be daring, or play it safe. Either way, it's good fun. Great for kids and adults. I don't think that very young children would think it's that great, but I'd say probably 10 and up. You could team up with younger kids and it would be fine. We play it with our adult friends and have a great time. Love it!

I bought a used edition of this game by Parker Brothers a few years back. You're trying to get combo rolls that enable you to move your pieces up the individual number paths. With each roll, you risk the progress you've made in the round.

With each roll of four dice, you must split them in two pairs. For example, if you roll a 3, 4, 5 and 6, you could use the dice in several ways. You can take the 3 and 4 (7) with the 5 and 6 (11). Or you can take the 3 and 5 (8) with the 4 and 6 (10). Or you can pair up the 3 and 6 (9) with the 4 and 5 (9). The latter allows you to move two spaces up the 9 path.

Once you establish three numbers and place the white markers on them, you can stop or continue to roll. If you continue, you must get a combo of at least one of the three numbers you have a white marker on, otherwise you lose all the progress you've made in the round. Once you reach the top of any number path, you capture that number and no one else can capture it. The first player to capture three numbers wins.

The tension comes when others egg you on. Do you roll one more time, or play it safe and stop. You'll be asking yourself that question on every turn. A simple game that can get very competitive. Up to four players can participate.

I had an old roomate introduce me to this game. It is addictive, fast passed, and simple that anyone can learn it in one round. It is awesome.

We had this game when my kids were little and loved it then. We were so excited to find it and play it now with the grandkids! They love it and is great for adults and kids to play together!

This is a fun game for the family. I haven't one yet, I keep trying to keep going and lose everything. It definitely gets frustrating.

Can't Stop is a simple, fun-filled, competitive game that sharpens math skills. It's a game that adults can enjoy playing with children. I bought it for my adult son, who had fond memories of playing this game with his grandmother when he was a boy. It's a great game for all generations.
