Editorial Reviews

Amazingly, this 1980s icon of sexual loathing and resentment has managed to keep his career going into the new millennium. All of the things the comedian is known for--misogyny, racism, free-floating anger--are on full display here. For Dice Clay, sex is an instrument of domination and humiliation. His riffs on the subject are repetitive and dull; the man makes any sex act sound as exciting as a plumbing maneuver. The comic's nasty remarks about Asians on "K2Y/China Diner" are as clichéd as they are awful. On "Midgets 2000" he goes after midgets with inexplicable hostility. Can this rant actually be considered comedy? Face Down, Ass Up's irritated trash talk feels like it goes on for hours. This is the work of one tired, juiceless bad boy. Dice Clay, or at least his comic persona, appears to be played out. --Ian Conde

4.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Dice, September 12, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Face Down Ass Up (Audio CD)
This CD is vintage Andrew "Dice" Clay. If you loved him in the early 90's, you will love him even more now. Like a fine wine, he has gotten funnier with age.

5.0 out of 5 stars clean comedy STINKS, September 19, 2000
This review is from: Face Down Ass Up (Audio CD)
Thank God for the Legend Andrew Dice Clay. I have never heard such raunchy brilliance in my life. He's just sooo dirty. I thought his last album (Filth) was vile, but this one really took the cake for Pete's sake. He makes fun of midgets, fat people, Jim Norton and relationships. This album is absolutely jam packed with mule juice and marriage material. The Legend has really out done himself this time. His humor is outweighed only by his handsomeness. I saw him in Las Vegas and laughed so hard I pinched my helmet. This guy is absolutely terrific. If you don't buy this one, you really are bonkers. I have heard many comedy albums over the years, and this one makes them all sound like Club Soda Kenny. I love you Legend. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Undisputed King of Comedy returns!, September 15, 2000
This review is from: Face Down Ass Up (Audio CD)
Andrew Dice Clay is on of those people I had begun wondering what happened to. I remember when his last album "The Day the Laughter Died Vol. 2" was released and how bad it was. It didn't even seem like comedy to me. I pretty much thought he was finished. But when I saw him on Craig Kilburn's show I saw him mention a new CD and I thought I was dreaming. Well the CD is by far his best since his first CD. He is as raunchy as ever (its Dice! What do you expect?) but the laughs just keep on coming. Anyone who admires the comic the slightest bit should enjoy this album a lot. It is one of the best comedy albums I have heard recently (along with John Pinette's "Show Me The Buffet") and a sign that the Dice we all know and love is back and as funny as ever.
