5.0 out of 5 stars Organ / accordion duo works great!, February 2, 2006
This review is from: Face to Face (Audio CD)
Don't forget the name Richard Galliano - he's the modern master on the accordion in jazz, tango and French folk music. Since the legendary Art van Damme has left the accordion scene, Galliano takes the accordion playing to the next level. After many superb recordings in various music styles and combinations on Dreyfus Jazz, Galliano teams with Eddy Louiss on organ for the most odd combination ever recorded by a jazz organist. Galliano's background from French ballroom music on muzette dipped in great understanding of jazz improvisation and sensibility, this duo combination plays enjoyable and charming music on a high level. The CD contains straight ahead jazz to tango and folk music. A stunning version of "I remember Clifford" only confirms that accordion does belong in the world of jazz. Louiss always plays with command, control and sensivity on the B3 and aviods to overpower the accordion with "loud" drawbar registrations. Open your organ mind and buy this CD today!
