4 stars for Troy 4th major label release,
By
This review is from: Face Off 2 (Audio CD)
Let's start by saying I meant to give it 4 stars. A little less then a year since he relesed "By Any Means Necessary" Troy is back with an album about as good as that one (and more underground and less commercial then his last two albums -- much like his first "Face Off" album) and slightly better than "Universal Soldier". It still has his down south crunk feel that all his albums have but it has a few songs that I skip (3) or ones that are only average (3), with the other 8 being good (1 is almost a classic). Guests are only on 3 songs (2 do the hook and one other rapper) so you do get a good amount of the Pastor on here. Production is decent, Troy does 3 songs, Blaze & drummer Boy each do 2, and Swisso, Enigma, Cooley C, KLC, DJ Squeeky, and Donny Scantz all do 1 song. A good album for Troy fans and crunk fans as well.
#2 - 8 #3 - 9.5 (good beat -- best song on here -- gets on Lil Jon, Lil scrappy, T.I., and a few other ATL artists) #4 - 8 #5 - 6.5 (bad chorus -- part 2 of "Ridin' Big" off his "By Any Means..." album) #7 - 8 (KLC of No Limit does the beat which is odd to me, the beat is off of Mac's "Shell Shocked" album the song "Beef" from No Limit as well -- ???) #8 - 5.5 (f/ Mr. Gary -- a slower song for the ladies -- Troy doesn't do these well) #9 - 7 (simple beat w/ bad hook) #10 - 8.5 (good beat) #11 - 9 (another with a good beat) #13 - 7.5 (f/ peter the disciple) #14 - 8.5 (F/ sky -- dedicated to Kurt Cobain) #15 - 8.5 #17 - 6.5 #18 - 7.5 Micah Troy -- Atlanta, GA -- b. around 1979 DSGB!!!! check all my reviews

Face Off 2 is one of the best albums i've heard in a long time. Every track is hittin. You won't ever have to skip a track, trust me. If you dont buy this album, you're truly going to miss out on a phenomonal cd. Stand out tracks: 2) WWW (Who Want War), 3) Murder Man, 7) Equipped in This Game, 9)Where Them Niggaz At?, 11) Yeah!!!, 14) Acid Rain (best track -- dedication to Kurt Cobain), 15) Gone Getcha, and 18) Champion (classic bonus). Stop reading this review now and buy the cd.

Ive always been a fan of P.T. Cruiser(since P.T. for President back in 1999) . After hearing Universal Soilder 2 years ago I still think that, that was his best, well produce, and krunkest album ever. B.A.M.N (By any Means Neccessary) was a great follow up, but it was no Universal Soilder. And now face off pt.2, the almbum is good dont get me wrong but if you get past the beats,(which very few are good like 6 out of 17) and listend to the hooks on most of the songs, thell have u scratching ur head. On the other hands I like how P.T. Reminds people he was once the heart of Hotlanta on the album. I was expecting alot from P.T. this time around when u got T.I. keeping that fire still burning hotter than ever in ATL I was hopping Troy would come and put his fire out, but its still burning.

Thirtysomething White Lady Actually Likes the Pastor!,

I'm a high school teacher. I'm white and most of my students are African-American. Not long ago they were talking about Pastor Troy and said I should listen to him, teasing me that it was "good gospel music." I found out the truth but told them I would listen to the CD anyway if someone would let me borrow it. Well, one of my students did bring it in for me. I haven't stopped listening to it and still haven't given it back! Much to my surprise, I actually like it. I've never really been into rap but thought I should listen to what my students like. I really like the beat of the music and I find PT's raps very creative. Some of his lyrics have even made me laugh out loud! Yes, he curses excessively but I can get past that. I'm going to have to get my own copy of this CD. PT has a new fan!

Pastor Troy was one of the leaders of the "New South" droppin in 1999 with WE READY I DECLARE WAR and the hit single Aint No Mo Play In GA. He was one of the first to come out for the NEW SOUTH repping Georgia and ATL hard. He wrote all his lyrics, produced all his beats, and came out with a completely unique style. If you mention Georgia and ATL without mentioning Pastor Troy then you should off yourself on the real. Pastor Troy gets so much respect around Georgia and it's a shame he hasn't really blown up because he is at the front of the A TOWN movement along with T.I. & P$C, Ying Yang Twins, Boyz N Da Hood, and Lil Jon. Speaking of Lil Jon, Pastor Troy has developed some kind of beef with Lil Jon over who knows what but lets hope that beef doesn't last because they were a classic combination.
Face Off Pt. 2 is quite possibly Pastor Troy's best album thus far. It seems as Troy has found his We Ready glory day fire. This album has a little more of an edge to it than his last two albums (not saying the last albums weren't good just he's more aggressive here). The album has a distinct ATOWN underground sound and that's good. Every beat is fire and Pastor Troy delivers his best lyrical performance since the first Face Off. The best songs to me are Equipped In This Game, Murder Man, WWW, Get Dat Money Part II, Just To Fight, Yeah, and Gone Getcha. There aren't any weak songs and the album is enjoyed the whole ride. Pastor Troy definitely delivers with Face Off Pt. 2; I just wish that he could blow up like everyone else from the A has. 5 Stars.

My boy P.T. brought it back with dis one right here, off top it's a five star, better than By Any Means Necessary, which was okay, but he goes back to "We Ready I Declare War" on dis one when he was out after Mastr P, which was his best cd yet as well as I am DSGB, Face Off, Pastor Troy for President, this one would be da one to Put Troy back on da map with da others, for whoever slept on him, Troy was before all these clown's claim they king of dis and running dat, never da one to hold his tongue or take any thing from anybody, Troy let's them know off top, this cd is a must have for any down-south fan, DSGB forever!!!

Tight,

This will go down as one of Pastor Troy's greatest cd's. The intro is very tight and the song where he snaps on Lil Jon called "Murder Man" is an instant classic. The only song that could have been better was "I Wanna Taste You" simply because the guy in the chorus gets annoying after a while. Definitly worth the buy. PT is holding it down as usual

This cd was a surprise to me. After hearing the last P.T. cd, I was not expecting him to crank it back up like this. P.T. been my boy from the jump and he redeemed himself fa sho wit Face Off pt 2. I would've gave him 5 stars if it wasnt for ridin big pt2(But even that song is growing on me). I usually let the whole thang ride out. The beats are hittin hard and he spits that rawness sorta like he used to. he did a complete 180 with this album and I tell anybody who'll listen to go and cop dat Face Off pt2.
