I LOVE this book. Yes, it is a little small, smaller than I thought it would be but it is jammed packed with ideas. The other person said that all the butterflies were the same but they really are not. Great inspiration for colors and shapes. Love the little quotes on each page. Nice touch. With your own creativeness you can make great mystical butterflies. I would have like a little more info. on how to put the paint on but if you have just a little knowledge on how to put it on you can figure it out. Practice on a kid for free. Again I love the book great addition to your painting library and I am ordering Marcela's book on Face Painting Fairies and I am sure I will be just as happy.

This book didn't take me from novice to pro in one afternoon, but I'm pretty sure with enough practice I will get there. The kids loved their butterflies and I enjoyed painting. Highly recommended.

The pictures are great but there is no instructions that you can follow .The instructions are not explained at all ,there are only pictures done with crayons but no written instructions.I have 7 books and this in by far the worst. It is basically the same butterfly but different colors.
Do not spend a penny on it.

Disappointing,

Maybe I expected too much... I expected a real book like the other face painting books I have seen. It is more like a leaflet stapled through the middle. Also the pictures of the finished faces are too close in my opinion and one appeared slightly out of focus. I thought it was not worth $15 so I returned it.

I'm a professional face painter, and this book was just what I needed to step up my butterfly techniques. I recommend this book to any face painter who is looking for fresh, new ideas and techniques, or to a beginner just starting out.

This and the other books by this author are beautiful but not terribly helpful for non professsional face painters. The pictures are very pretty but there is only brief direction on how to achieve the end look. Some of the materials used are very specialized. I would only recommend this for an expereinced face painter.

Wonderful little book. Great pictures to copy. Hard to find good books for quality face painting. Mostly all butterflies as expected, but delightful. Not alot of instruction, but great ideas and pictures if you can copy. Love it, thanks.

The problem with this book is the price. It is pretty expensive for what you get, a small magazine rather than a book. In addition, the supposed step by step instructions leave a lot to be desired. If you don't know how to face paint already then this isn't the "book" for you. If you need to understand hand position, how to create a look, etc. this book does not provide you with that information. If you simply need some ideas, I guess it's okay, although a search online for face painting butterflies will provide you with all of these looks and more. I'm pretty disappointed and the only reason that this got a three rather than a lower rating is that the pictures are beautiful and this is a full color magazine.
The description on the back is quite misleading, this book is NOT "overflowing with inventive and creative ideas for face painting one of the most requested designs." The easy "step by step" instructions are actually four steps for each design and are hand drawn bits of each portion of the face, not actual instructions and no clear description of how each step was achieved. I wouldn't recommend this book to a beginner because it really isn't helpful. Know a bit about how to create certain looks? Then this book will work for you a bit better. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this if you can avoid it. Check your local library first and look online, you will even find videos with people creating this look.

Very colorful book with lots of ideas and designs. I wouldf have liked some more info on the paint choices actually utilized in the pictures being showcased so that I could more accurately recreate those designs. I'm always interested in the professional-- "what works" opinions regarding specific paints, brushes that they use. I look forward to getting the "animals" and eye art books, I hope future ones will include some 'items used in this design" type of shopping guide

More of a pamphlet,

This "book" is more of a color pamphlet. It shows how to create full-face butterfly paintings, but they all looked very similar. If you have any artistic bone in your body, you probably won't need this book for anything but inspiration. I found it helpful for showing me how to face paint butterflies on little children and keeping it away from the eyes. Also, most of the butterflies use glitter, which I was scared to try with young children.
