Gr 3-6-A delightful, easy-to-follow presentation. An introduction gives basic instructions and outlines the materials needed; it is followed by a variety of face-painting projects, from clowns to monsters to forest creatures. Each one is illustrated with step-by-step directions and full-color photographs; boxed insets contain helpful hints, and suggestions are provided for costumes. The book concludes with a history of makeup and advice on creating original face-painting designs. Similar in format to Snazaroo's Five Minute Faces (Random, 1992) and Ron Freeman's Makeup Art (Watts, 1991), Russon's title offers some unique ideas for seasons, day and night scenes, and body painting. A nice addition on a topic that's especially popular around Halloween.-Beth Irish, Orange Public Library, CA
