It's difficult to think about Australia's contribution to hard rock without acknowledging the looming spectre of AC/DC, a band that pretty much created the template for pug-nosed riff-rock that still shakes the establishment to this very day. Dig a little deeper into the Australian musical scene, however, and you'll find a host of other acts that were just as impressive, including Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, Jimmy Barnes and...the Angels or, as they were dubbed in every terrritory outside of Oz, Angel City. This version of Face To Face was a US only release which is a conglomerate of the two original albums Face To Face (1978) and No Exit (1979), plus Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, the re-released version that appeared on the Out Of The Blue E.P. If you are a real purist like me and can't get enough of the music of The Angels (a.k.a. Angel City) then check out the 'originals' on import by searching by album title. Then scroll way way way down the list to the imports section and you'll find "No Exit [IMPORT]" and the 'original' "Face To Face [IMPORT]" - and you'll see all those great extra tracks you're missing out on by only settling for this compilation.

I was fortunate enough to be working at a free-form rock station in Missouri when this album was released. You better believe it got a lot of play on my shift. The music is mostly tighter and faster than AC/DC, a similiar band, and their lyrics tended to be not as dark. Wherever I've played it since for friends, the band has won a new fan here and there, and often the comment is made (as in reviews here) "Why have I never heard of these guys?" Take our advice and take a chance by picking up a copy of this hidden hard-rock gem.

Angel City, also know as the Angels in their homeland in Australia has recorded approximatley 20 CD's over the past 20 years. Their latest, Skin and Bone was recorded last year and is in release in Australia and soon in France. I contacted their bassist and told them to contact amazon.com., give them a list of their CD's that are available so they can be ordered in the United States. Their music is foot stompin', old fashion rock and roll. You'll love 'em.
