Disappointed...,

Thought this game would be great considering the push they put behind it with the commercials and all...not at all though. Let me jump right into what makes this a terrible game: First and by far the most annoying thing, your hand and wrist will almost lose feeling in them just playing this game for one bout, mashing square and X buttons as fast as you can round after round. Next the graphics in this game are absolutely pathetic IMO. They took the cartoony look too far and most of the characters just look clumsy and stupid in the ring. Next is there is no strategy or depth to this game, like I said before you basically use square, X, and R1 over and over and over. I say there is no depth because by your second or third fight you'll have mastered all the controls you'll need! Another thing is the difficulty level to me is unbalanced, this game is extremely challenging at easy level many times. It took me several tries to beat some of the middle boxers. Which I like a challenging game but not at the easy level, when I just want to beat up a boxer for a little while and blow off some steam. Anyway, one cool thing is the Facebreaker "bout ending" punches which you build up after landing 3 or 4 combos. Overall: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE!!!

EA stated their desire to bring back the arcade puncher games with this game, and they did. Except instead of costing a quarter for a game you'd play once, they want [...]. It's kind of entertaining, the kids like to bash each other with the customized boxers they made but the game is boring. Like said previously, it's a button masher. The faster you mash the buttons, the better you'll do. You can have about 95% of the game experience from the demo version. Don't buy this game new.

I stand by my decision when I say that this game is lots of fun to play! Maybe it's the mindlessness behind it all- but this game has grown on me and deserves to be played at least once with friends and family members.
What I perceive to be shinning points for the game are the loony graphics and insane specials. It's entertaining to watch and execute massive combos and parries simply by pressing a single button. Of course it's a very primative approach, but I believe that it's perfectly fitting for a game this absurdly fast paced! (I mean that in a good way...) As far as flaws- I'll just put it like this: "AAAHHH MY WRISTS!!!!". Being a fighting game fan, I believe that this game is addicting at times, but the button mashing get's physically tiresome after 2 bouts. There's also no story mode that could've helped in the game's attractiveness. All in all, this game deserves a chance. Just make sure to take plenty of breaks in between bouts...

theoretically you can win at this game but be prepared to have hand cramps and a sore forearm before long. there are weaknesses to every fighter to exploit but the time and cramps required to learn these weaknesses isn't worth it. when i played and thought i finally determined a successful strategy, the cpu would render my controller useless afer i knocked my opponent down twice, and there was no wy i was going to win. if you get cornered, forget about it, you can't fight your way out. no matter how many buttons you mash, nothing happens. allow me to educate the readers why this is true if they don't already know. it is impossible for you and the cpu to both throw punches simultaneously, therefore the advantage is given to the cpu. i must admit i diligently played this game, cramps and all, and managed to fight my way all the way to the 5th belt fight, the BFR. i spent way too many hours on Molotov, the middle fighter of the 4th stage. i finally figured out a way to beat him; but for all the time spent to learn it, it just wasn't worth it at all. i implore you to pass on this one. don't buy Fight Night 4 either unless you like jabbing without the ability to throw any other punches. summarily, i have to say i had more fun with the PS2 games than any PS3 game i have played. one final message to the programmers: i cannot understand for the life of me why you thought your finished product would be even a remotely satisfying gaming experience, because honestly i think it's total garbage. try again.

I usually do not buy sports games, but I saw this, it was cheap, so I figured why not. I got the game and immediately noticed the cartoony look to it which intrigued me. The game play has very simple controls and it is easy to pick up especially for someone like me who hates to read the manual. I usually like games that let you create your own fighter and the fact that you can upload your photo is a nice feature. However the options for customization are lacking particularly when compared to the options in other games such as the WWE games and even mortal kombat. The character selection is also a bit small, it would have been nice if EA took a little more time and created more characters to choose from.
All in all I am glad I got this game and would recommend it as long as you keep what I said in mind.

From the download of the Demo I knew this game would be nuff sport to play. My girl and I have so much fun playing it, because she does not have to do no technical combinations of buttons to get out moves. Long and short, the game is for everyone. Lets of G rated fun.

Deceptively Simple But...,

Facebreaker is deceptively simple to play since there are not a lot of different controls or key combinations to learn. Even an old fart like me can pick up a PS3 controller and be playing with his grandson in mere minutes and having a huge amount of fun doing it.
But don't let the simplicity fool you. It will take time to learn the tricks of the trade that the AI fighters use and the counters to them. And you'll have loads of fun learning them. Add to that 2 player, online play as well as the Facebreaker equivalent of tournament play and there are hours of fun to be had. OH! the graphics are wonderful and funny. The ring girls are fun too - hint (the wife might just smack you on the back of the head if you like 'em too much.) Facebreaker is fun - really fun.
