If only I'd waited a day for the reviews to come out on this one. I assumed it would at least be acceptable, considering it was the same developers from the Fight Night series. You will not be swinging with analog in this game. However you will be playing an unwinable game of rock-paper-scissors via button mashing against the computer, which you will ultimately lose. Does that sound like fun? The action is so frantic that you can't tell when you've intentially countered, parried, or blocked. Occasionally you'll connect with a haymaker and your oppenent will fly upward in slo-mo. Then shortly after he lands, he'll do the same to you. There is no point. There is no defending or strategy. I realize it's an arcade take on boxing and isn't supposed to be completely realistic, but you'll honestly have more fun watching a demo while fiddling with a controller and pretending you're actually playing. Don't waste your money!

I agree with the previous review. This game is garbage. Unless your around 5 years old and don't mind smashing butons there is really no fun factor in this game. I can't believe a Next Generation system still makes games like these. Stay away from this one and spend your money on something else.

Immagine Ready to Rumble, now Immagine that but not fun and a complete piece of crap. There are games people say rent before you buy, well don't waste your money on even renting this game. This is the worse game I have played in a very very long time....I like Boxing games ,love fightnight and even thought Prizefighter was somewhat enjoyable....Believe me this game make Mike Tyson's boxing for the last gen systems look like a masterpiece. I cannot begin to describe how terrible this game actually is.

So I was watching TV one day and Kimbo Slice was promoting this game FaceBreaker, it looked really cool. Apparently they have this facemaker engine where you can hook up your xbox vision take a picture of your face and the game will manifest the face on to a previously styled boxed, I thought this was going to be fun and I was proven wrong, The face generated wasn't even close to mine the lighting in my room apparently translated to me looking Dominican and the game itself is a masher to say the least. You tap the button to jab either high or low, you hold and release it to hook high or low, and after you pulverize your opponent for a little bit a meter fills up allowing you knock the crap out of them sending them into slow mo when if you hit the button again you'll lift them off the ground sending them flying through the air. It's pretty cartoony and after every round depending on how bad you got beat up your character reflects the damage and pants accordingly to how worked you just got. It's a silly game and best played with friends, The computer tends to read your punches no matter what after the first round, the soundtrack is cool EATRAX. but doesn't play while you fight which is a bummer. It's fun, but it's simple and can sometimes be very frustrating. now that the price has dropped i'd say it's worth picking up.

I enjoy playing this with my nephews 8 and 10. Im 40. I prefer gears of war but its a great get a way from hard core killing once in a while and my nephews get a real kick out of this game for some reason.
I have a feeling that if EA put out a follow up with a little effort this would be an extrodinary game but that probably wont happen and facebreaker is what it is now. Fun for 10 bucks.

I definitely enjoyed Facebreaker. Picked it up for [...] bucks, so I can't complain. This game is more of an arcadey-type fighting game instead of a realistic boxing game. The closest thing to Facebreaker would be the old Ready to Rumble games for the Dreamcast. Facebreaker may seem like a button-masher at first, but some skill is involved as you progress, and the difficulty is amped up.

Sometimes you need to play a game that is not necessarily totally dependent on skill, but dependent on luck! There aren't combos or lots of special moves (just one "stun" move thats unique to each player, I think), but it's lots of fun to smash your opponent's face and get that trophy at the end of the match with their "broken" face mounted on a plaque! Keep in mind, theres no jumping or kicking--it's all upper body work, but you get to use "sky breakers" and "ground breakers," and if you hit your opponent enough times without getting hit, you can do the ultimate "face breaker" move which instantly wins the game. Super-imposing your own face on the players makes it even more entertaining, as you get to punch the face of someone familiar! I enjoy this game for a half hour or hour of quick, cycling game play between three or more players. It's a simple game, and new players catch on quick.

This game has some good points I prefer over other other fighting games. You won't get very far with "button smashing", the game doesn't have a billion "super mega extra combos" you will accidently trigger with button smashing.
What you need with this game is not about memorizing combo moves. You will need to learn the strategy (and lack of it) of computer AI. For me Molotov was the hardest but his weakest point is his contant use of hard attacks, so create a strategy to stop it. The timing of button presses is the key in this game (I can say it after completing the game with every character and Unbeatable achievement). Learn to press the buttons so that you will see "Perfect" in the punches every time you fight with the opponent. High punch, dodge, Low punch dodge, etc. The game is works like a wave, you go forward then your combos are stopped, then your opponent starts his until you stop it with correctly timed dodges/punches. Button smashing gets you nowhere, this is the best part of the game. The game also has exceptionally well balanced characters. Shortly: no tricks needed with this game, just that "riding on the wave" is the most addictive part of this game. You see your opponent punch high/low, you dodge high/low and only after that you do you stuff. Something of this game reminds me of Guitar Hero type of games. The game is about rhythm.

this game is kinda tough, even on the easy settings. But if you enjoy the old days of a beautiful button masher, this game is for you.

Right off the bat, let me say... this game isn't going to be for everyone. But, if you like over-the-top style stuff with some button-mashing boxing fun, you'll like this game. The controls aren't great but it's just one of those games that's fun in a party situation where you want something different than the 100s of shooters out there. The characters are pretty cool, the action is very fast, and the games are quick. For some, it could get old fairly fast and it is definately not a boxing simulation game.
