We bought this camera in order to record interviews rather than the 2-way Skype application it was designed for. Some other cameras have slightly better image quality, but the beam-forming dual microphones are better than any other solution we tested. The camera really "reaches out" to pick up even faint speech--even in the presence of other noise in the room. We also liked the wide angle of view which allows us to get the camera in close and still see what the subject is doing on the table top. We did not try the camera with Skype. Only improvement we would have liked to see is a 1/4" tripod screw hole on the base. It is well-engineered and looks and behaves like a professional piece of gear. That said, we were replacing a camcorder/external microphone solution which cost about $800 so money was not an issue for us. If you just want to do 2-way videophone, there may be cheaper solutions for you.

Very good quality. I have nothing critical to say here. I've bought this camera to communicate to my sister on Skype and she lives on the other side of the globe. I felt that I was sitting in the same room with her. Great image quality and microphone workes very well. 5 stars.

i've got no real negative issues with this camera. We have owned 5 logitech cameras over the last few years and keep upgrading to get better video with the family in chicago, from california. The audio is great, the finish of the camera build is VERY nice compared to any logitech. I love the fact that the camera has a mini-usb connector ON the camera, so if your cable dies you can get a new one and the camera will remain good. I've had 2 logitech cameras die simply because the cable was wrapped up and bent once to many. So, I assume this camera wont have that issues in 1-3 years.
One comment on the video quality. I compared this one against logitech pro 9000 (I use that one at work), in the same skype sessions. I had my family in chicago tell us which camera stream they liked better. The N1 had a brighter lighting. While the Pro 9000 they said was a little better in video quality, but lower lighting. They did prefer the image stream of the Pro 9000 vs the N1.... We'll keep testing and comparing, I really wanted the N1 to just kill logitech, but it seems to be equal, greater, and worse in various cases.
all in all, i'd recommend it to anyone looking for a GOOD build, long lasting/durable (perception) webcamera.
