This review is from: Faceball 2000 (Game Cartridge)
About a month ago I decided i would buy Faceball 2000 for the Original Game Boy because of it's unique gameplay and for the novelty of it. The game is based off of Midi Maze for the Atari 7800 and basically a watered down fps where you are a floating head facing other floating heads. The first mode is Cyberscape, where you try to reach the end of each level avoiding enemies (or kill them) while searching for power ups on the way. The character movement may be slow at first but you eventually get power ups that increase your speed (it lasts until you lose all of your lives) but the slowness and the fact there is no strifing means that it is kind of hard to control. The arena mode is straight up deathmatch with your choice of more than 5 arenas. If you are lucky enough to have a friend who has this game than there is a 2 player option for this mode. (there is a rumor that you can supposedly link up I think 19 gameboys together but it is almost impossible to find 19 people who have this game, the game links, and game boys) This game is actually pretty fun being the only fps I can think of for the Original Game Boy. Since this was released in 1991 with the SNES port a year later, this game predates Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM and it also being a PORTABLE 8 BIT GAME and not on a computer,no chips,no expansions, nothing added on! Amazing milestone for the time and a great game. I would rate this 87 out of 100. You can pick this up under 10$ in ok condition and might become a sort of rarity some day.Faceball 2000
