The Army must have changed a LOT more than I was aware of...
There were several WTF moments in John's heroic Flog through this travesty but the first was the Sl*t wear she choose to wear to her workplace. It may build a sense of unity among her coworkers. Against her. Everyone's in on the joke. Somehow, I don't think that's what LKH had in mind when she dreamt that one up. Anita had clothes in her car trunk so she could have changed before the interrogation, therefore, avoiding flashing her underwear at anyone. Then after that debacle she choose to remain inappropriately dressed prior to the raid even though they had time to arm themselves prior to departing. Later, Stripping as she ran. Does that sound like the Army to you? Sounds more like a bad 60's porn script. Oh,wait.
Exactly! That part always bottles my mind. That Anita would keep her date wear on during a firefight, run on tippytoes across the field because of her heels then stop TWICE in the middle of a firefight to strip off heels and hose.
I suppose it would encourage comeraderie if all the troops climbing over each other so they don't get stuck partnering Anita can be called comeraderie.
Alas, if you threw Anita overboard, Davy Jones would only end up being a were-giant Octupus and would fall victim to Anita. As he escorted her from the bottom of the ocean floor, she would meet Jaws, a were-shark. Together, they would form a third triumverate. The Under The Sean Triumverate and all of the mermaids would become jealous whiner babies. There is no hope.
Okay, how about if she were shoved in front of a jet blast door as the jet was lauched off of the air craft carrier? Would that work? If not, there are many more ways a person can get hurt. A hatch could fall on you(they don't call them mankillers for nothing), fall down a ladder well, be in a main space when the halon extinguishing system goes off, get hit by snap-back if a mooring line breaks, accidentally go to a topside area while they are raditating antennas or launching missiles...lots.
"The house, the house, the house began to twitch and it landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch. Which was not a happy situation for the Wicked Witch..." Sorry, I was having a Wizard of Oz flashback, but "Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead" is so applicable to our beloved Whorenita.
I was going to ask if the foot would have a Nike on it that color coordinates with the rest of the body one deck down. But this is the current Anita we are talking about here, so it would have an inappropriate shoe, which ironically enough is what caused her accident in the first place... Yes, USS Blahship was experiencing weird unknown contacts that appeared to be mermaid shaped out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and Anita had to be flown out to the ship and unfortunately, for all of us, she decided to wear her "date night" outfit of a mini skirt, thong (so she could give the sailors walking up the ladder well behind her a show, tee-hee), and stilletto heels. Her plan of using her BIOLOGY DEGREE, to tell them what they were actually looking at and how to blow them up if they turned hostile by sitting on the Fire Control's lap and help point the gun mount in the proper alignment (with LOTS of wiggling) was foiled when Lamerita learned that the FC was a tall, tanned, blonde woman. Waaanita stormed out of Combat and as she stepped over the knife edge of the hatch to go down to the next deck she tripped. Her body pitched forward. Her arms flailed out to grab, something....anything to try to stop her downward plunge, but the stanchions snap causing the hatch to first bludgeon Whorenita's pasty white head, then close down on her lower leg snapping and separating it from the rest of her body, which continued to drop, dragging down the non-skid steps of the ladder to the deck below.
My imagination might may gotten a tinsy bit carried away with this embellishment....
