3.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a Facebook App for Kindle Fire HD September 15, 2012
Verified Purchase
Finally! Original Kindle Fire owners were stuck with a Facebook icon that just led to the Facebook mobile site ever since it was released, so it's refreshing to finally see a real Facebook app available for download. Sadly, it was a bit buried inside the Amazon App Store and required a good bit of searching; why this isn't the first app that comes up when searching for Facebook and instead 50 rows down, i'll never know.

That said, this is pretty much the same application that's available for normal Android devices. It shares the same version number (currently 1.99) and works reasonably well. Like the Android version it could use an overhaul to improve speed and loading of the news feed, but it's still better then using the mobile site so it's a welcome addition to the App Store.

EDIT: Updating the title to reflect that apparently this only works on the Fire HD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please fix the news feed! October 25, 2012

The newsfeed does not show beyond the first dozen or so items. It is a widespread problem from what I have read online, so it should be addressed with an update.

3.0 out of 5 stars Why can't we update? September 11, 2013
Verified Purchase
I wonder if anyone who actually works for Amazon knows how annoying it is to see an update prompt when you open the Facebook app on the Kindle Fire HD ? I'm sure Kindle owners everywhere know that it is completely ridiculous that upon clicking the update button you are redirected to the Google Play Store. Speaking of the Google Play Store, we already shelled out hundreds of dollars for our devices, why not give us access to Play? Would Amazon not be able to make enough money? I'm quite sure that your profits would not suffer by offering more content for what many consider to be the best Android tablet on the market.

Have you actually read the permission in version 3.8 (Dec 2013)
Yeah, it prompted me to set up FB when I first turned on my Kindle Fire HD 7", and when it got to the part where it said it could access all of my contents, apps, and post things such as what I am reading and what websites I visit, I hit "cancel." This means that in November when... Read more

Just last night I had a notification that there was an update. I updated it, and now I don't get the message either. Yay! I know there wasn't an update pending last week when I checked it.
